I am not so sure about this but in this video the guy likes it. Would I subject my drone to this, no. But it
is your choice.

Call me sceptical, but that seems almost entirely useless, the little silicone hat someone posted yesterday is probably better.
Honestly, if I really had to fly in the rain I’d just be taping over the seams with some kind of self amalgamating tape and hoping for the best. If you didn’t care about cleaning it I suppose you could fill gaps with Vaseline or something.
Suits you sir. ![]()

@Bobbysmile
“self amalgamating tape”
That took me back to my apprenticeship days in ICI Billingham in the 80’s lol
The company guy does a lot of spamming on the MavicPilots and other forums. Replies to anything just to make sure his huge footer is seen.
There have been reviews on there stating things like they increase overheating (block vents, impede airflow) and so on. Also the main areas for water ingress are the motors themselves and camera area - neither of which are covered.
Any negative comments rapidly get pulled as he’s a paid advertiser and flags them immediately.
I wouldnt risk it - nothing suggests they work and they cause other issues. These arent just skins.
Edited to add:- The Mini 3 lacks an internal fan so relies entirely on passive cooling. Its likely to suffer even more from issues with blocking of vents and restricted airflow as a result.
Got it thanks
lol I had already made a comment on this in his comments section of his vid
I did my own out a sheet of silcone and some velcro. Flies well and dry and kept the battery, usb port and sd card slot dry as a bone.
apart from the added weight ,i would not only subject my drone to such conditions ,but i would have no desire to subject myself to such conditions either ,phantom rain makes wet suits for many different drones in the DJI line up ,and if thats your thing go for it
Unsurprisingly, there’s nothing protecting the parts that are most susceptible to the rain, the motors. I think a few raindrops in those will bring it down ![]()

I dont see anything wrong with putting a pair of pants on your mini 3 !!! ![]()
You would be surprised.
The windings are insulated. I’ve seen a 7.5kw induction motor and pump running with a dodgy shaft seal to the point water had reached the terminal cover.
Rain water is not very conductive either.
Unless your protecting the motors and props it’s pointless. These get too wet then kiss goodbye to your drone.
Why?
The props are spinning at such a speed, the centrifugal force will mean no rain accumulates.
The motors are brushless, bearings are sealed and, as @callum says, the windings are insulated.
In many applications of radio controlled vehicles, the brushless motor may come in contact with water. This could be as significant as being even fully submerged
I can’t understand him, I see what he’s doing tho.
I did have my drone up in thick fog by accident, it came back like it had had a bath, it’s been fine, I won’t rush to do it again tho. Was more concerned about battery & gimbal.
You’ll very likely find any comments that aren’t glowing and positive disappear fairly rapidly.
I don’t get it. Covers some of the bigger vents, sure, but there are still plenty of exposed bits where you wouldn’t want moisture to get in… and those bigger vents are there for a reason. As others have said, the Mini 3 Pro is already prone to overheating.
I suspect blocking the vents like this probably reduces the life of the components quite a bit.
Of course, there’s also the added weight and that magic 250g cut-off…
It’s a no from me.
