Out today testing the mini 4 pro obstacle avoidance, and setting gain and expo points to my liking. Flown 2 batteries no problems avoiding anything in its way.
Tested against saplings, thistle stems, leafy twigs, tall grass, bushes, trees. Tested front on, back on, sideways, up and down, normal and nifty avoidance, in bright sun and in shade. I couldn’t crash it.
You know this will end.
I was impressed! Confidence inspiring even!
Third battery more of the same. I don’t usually use the tracking functionality as I’m not that interesting or narcissistic but I decide to have a play with the new focus tracking. This looks fun.
So set it to go from behind to in front and inner ring to outer, height and distance left at default setting.
I start walking, drone circles around me all good so far.
Crack and no drone noise, this can’t be good. Controller says the motors have stopped. Definitely not good.
Turn around, no mini 4 pro in sight, oh sh1t.
It’s about 2m up in the spikiest bush it could find, the bush was also wrapped in brambles, the brambles had brambles.
Took about 20 minutes and half a pint of blood to retrieve, I’m a naughty boy and carry my leatherman when out walking, so thankfully I had something harder than my fingers to move brambles with.
I’m not looking forward to my shower.
The drone came out of its adventure in better shape than I did, no damage found.
It’s had a camouflage job from the tree but looks and feels ok. No damage to the props.
Throw it back in the air. All good, hardy little bird.
I had screen recorded all the other flights but forgot to record this one, typical the one I want.
I won’t be trusting the OA though.
