Never too old

Alright you lot?
I’ve not posted much since buying my first drone (DJI Mini 3) but a lot has happened since then…
Despite my advanced years, it seems I’ve gone and got myself an addiction - FPV!
Yep, at 53 I just learned to fly acro and am also cracking on with flying inside the house in angle mode, videos will follow when I upgrade my kit.
Now I’m seriously considering selling the Mini 3 to fund my new habit - it’s a slippery slope!

I bought the Emax rtf tinyhawk 3 plus kit - having great fun but the goggles are killing me so have some skyzones on the way
It’s the freestyle stuff I’m digging, would have taken up skateboarding but I’m old and broken…this seemed a safer bet :joy:

Beware it great fun
But price in for a few repairs.

@bmsleight haha yeah already busted a couple of motors - it took some doing though :joy:

You could be my son!

That’s me reassured - I just started FPV too and I always imagined 53 was as long as it can last with all the old age physical ailments becoming the only thing I would be able to handle - spending my time between bed and toilet seat until those 2 are eventually merged shortly after… Looks like I was a bit dramatic about it after all… (I’ll be 53 next year  :joy: )

Big learning curve but it makes it so interesting/rewarding - long live FPV

I think I may have a twin! Also 53, also got into drones this year, and after meeting @bmsleight and the gang at the Waverley Abbey meet I too decided FPV looked like fun. Found - you guessed it - a used Tinyhawk 3 RTF kit on eBay (£85 RTF, very happy!) and am now teaching myself the dark arts. Really enjoying it, have managed to keep the repairs to one new propeller so far but have been very conservative with it, mostly angle for now but toyed with a bit of acro. So you are in good company, and definitely not old

Let me know how the Skyzones work out, I agree the Emax goggles are shit - fine to start out but I’ve really been struggling with the lack of focus adjustment because for some reason I seem to have the eyes of a 53yo.

If it makes you feel any better today I ordered some “pince nez” style reading glasses which should fit inside the goggles as a workaround. First time I have ever ordered a product specifically billed as “Best gift for old people” that was actually for myself :disappointed:

Another one on the 29th ?

I’m 50/50 (family stuff), but I thoroughly recommend it to anyone who hasn’t been, great site!

@Playtripper the Skyzone 04O pro goggles are awesome! Can’t believe the difference!
I also bought new antennas (Menace RC Invader and Periscope) now I can see what I crashed into :joy:

I can beat that one I’ve just started at the age of 71 the best of that is if I have an expensive drone fly away I will have forgotten it 10hours later
