Some more info is needed here
Drone Type - Make / Model
bit more info on why you think your in a restricted area and why you think it is the area that is stopping your drone from flying higher.
Have you checked your settings to see if you have your height set correctly ?

Is this because you live in the Southampton FRZ airspace region @Adamski35 ?
Apart from the FRZ around Eastleigh for the airport, I can’t see any problems for drone flying in Southampton. Google Maps does not show drone restrictions, you need Drone Scene or Drone Assist app for this. Restricted areas are shown in red shading, temporary restrictions (NOTAMs) in blue, and other areas that may present possible hazards in yellow.
You can fly in the yellow areas but need to be aware that there might be issues. Parks, for example, may have times when people congregate such as for Saturday morning football matches, but will be quiet midweek and suitable for flying.
If your drone weighs more than 250g you must keep 50m from any other people & from buildings, but sub-250g you can fly most places so long as it’s not over crowds and within CAA rules. You cannot take off and land without permission on private land, but can TOAL outside and fly over it so long as you do not cause a nuisance and respect privacy, and keep visual line of sight (VLOS) on your drone at all times. If you fly FPV the CAA requires you to be accompanied by a ‘spotter’ who has VLOS ‘eyes on’. You must keep within 120m height above the ground for all drones.
If you are going abroad for your holiday you will need to check on the rules in the country you are visiting before flying.
yes it asays in google 500m high
model drone DJI FPV
yah defo im based in read zone thank you for claryfication
@Adamski35 you might need to start here, if you haven’t already:
There is where local knowledge is helpful… @Adamski35 there’s a number of us here from the Southampton area. Bar the SOU FRZ, it’s all common sense. Although not illegal keep away from places like Marchwood Military Port, Fawley Refinery and the vast majority of the New Forest National Park is covered by bylaws regarding drone flying. Loads of other places to enjoy your hobby.

Welcome @Adamski35
I’m a bit bothered by this ‘Google 500m’ thing of yours, Adamski. I er, googled it and it opens a discussion on another forum in which it is established that, while it is probably feasible to operate 500m above the ground, it is not legal and most certainly not advisable to do so anywhere in the UK (or TTBOMK the US, EU, Australia, Canada, and probably a lot of other countries as well). Here the CAA rule is 120m maximum height above the surface of the ground. Moreover, the CAA also require you to be able to see your drone or at least have a spotter with you who can see it if you are flying FPV on the screen, and something the size of most hobby drones is basically invisible half a kilometer away. I’ve had to fit a bright flashing light to mine to stand a fighting chance of a VLOS 50m away, make that 25m below the tree-line.
Perhaps someone is getting confused between 120m above the ground and 500m above sea level, not the same thing. DJI last year flew a Mavic Air up and over the top of Everest, and have published the video, but at no point were they more than 120m above the ground, even when they were 8959m above sea level!
Flying is to a large extent about common sense; avoid crowds, flying from someone else’s land without permission, privacy conflicts, sensitive locations like police or military establishments, provocative behaviour, and observe CAA rules, FRZ, NOTAMs and the CAA’s drone code. Don’t be a dick.
As you live within the FRZ for Southampton Airport, you will also have to go outside the zone to fly legally unless you get permission from the Control Tower each time, but this is something most of us that live in urban environments have to put up with. I live in a densely-populated inner-city residentail area across the road from a Primary School, and have to walk half a mile to a local park to find a suitable flying space.
Hi Adam @Adamski35 and welcome aboard the GADC forum
Hi Adam @Adamski35 - welcome to GADC
Hey @Adamski35 - long term DJI FPV pilot here.
Speaking from experience the DJI FPV is a capable but fairly large, heavy and noisy drone.
It attracts attention every time I fly mine and if you plan to in manual mode you will want to go somewhere away from people.
Get out to somewhere away from people and buildings, take a spotter is possible (if not, just fly responsibly). Try not to go over 120 meters (you can set it so it wont) and enjoy the ride.
Its a very capable drone and you should enjoy lots.
Most of all get some videos posted of your flights!
Fly it LOS too, very capable
