I just bought a simple small drone, mainly due to two recent roof problems we’ve had to shell out for and i thought i could keep an eye out for problems with a drone.
Of course I’m sure I’ll want a bit of fun with it too.
I went with the cheapest but from a known brand, DJI Neo. It’s only 135g.
I think i am in the airport zone but wondered if I’m only on my own property and going about the height of my house, and also with it being 135g, do i still need permission to fly it?
Also are there any fairly close areas for me and my son’s to play around with it?

Hi, matey, and welcome. Check out your welcome package, it has Drone Scene links and Safe to Fly info that can be teilored to your make and model of your drone. Drone Scene will show you where there are restrictions and where members have flown but full access requires membership of the club, which is well worth it.
Your drone has a camera so, despite its weight you need to register it with the CAA, and obtain an Op ID before you can fly it at any height.
All is explained in the welcome pack provided by the club. Enjoy, its a great hobby.
The peril of living in a flight restriction zone unfortunately. there are plenty of places to fly though that are outside the restriction zones.
