Hey Denise @drigler Welcome to the GADC You will find this forum is brimming with information to help you get started with your drone. I’m local to you as I live in Pompey…and I’m just on my way out down to Southsea to (hopefully) film HMS Prince of Wales (the carrier) as it leaves the harbour.
Add yourself to the southeast group to help keep up to speed on everything that’s happening here on the coast.
Flying a drone is great fun but sometimes you feel the need to have a purpose for doing so and the Challenges category provides some great reasons for you to fly.
There are regular challenges which are open to all, that attract members of all abilities. Support, advice and constructive criticism is freely available; still photography, video and the techniques for editing both are involved in the challenges. Suggestions, for subjects or for complete challenges, are always welcome - take a look in the Challenges category for more information.
We’re a well established club with many knowledgeable members so it’s very likely that any issues you come across will have been discussed here before. And finally, if you are new to drones and wondering what it’s all about, have a look at Resources for a beginner.
oh wow, what a lovely welcome from everyone. Thank you very much.
Unfortunately, I was working today so I couldn’t go down to Portsmouth but thank you anyway, it’s really nice that you do meet up. at least someone can help me with being a spotter if I’m really stuck.
My first flight in a few days will be a mixture of excitement and nerves. Just got to make sure I don’t go too fast too early I do like speed. lol
Welcome to you and Zippy! I love motorbikes as well. Also name them, and still have dreams about the one I traded in.
Thankfully it’s a lot easier to keep multiple drones if, even if they do take a bit more of a beating.
Hi, wow so many people down south has brilliant. I’m not gonna reply to every single person as I need to shoot out the door, but thank you for offers of batteries and meet up… that’s very kind, thank you. once my workload calms down a bit, I shall be the eyeballing the meet up section and the other sections mentioned. I wonder if there’s cheese section. lol
Being in Fareham, you might need to check your Airspace. Fleetlands FRZ is ‘normally’ Monday to Friday 9 to 5ish, but can be later in Summer and have occasional Saturday morning traffic too.
Outside these times you just need to call them, if you get the answerphone, they are closed. Adjoining that is the Daedalus FRZ, 24/7 but you can obtain permission to fly.
Hi Dave, yes. I know not to fly in most of Fareham, I’d be travelling away to fly unfortunately.
I can’t even fly my back garden. lol
Luckily, it looks like I can fly near the castle at Portchester but that’s about it.
Don’t worry, I’ve been analysing all the places I can and cannot fly. I didn’t know about the phoning them about permission to fly, I will investigate thank you very much.
