New member from Odiham, Hampshire

Hi - Just checking in to introduce myself to the community, having recently purchased a Mavic Mini 3 Pro.
Unfortunately I’m in a heavily restricted airspace area (RAF Odiham), although having spoken to the duty officer there recently, they are quite open to granting permission subject to completing a request pro forma with proposed flight details.
I’ve done more theory than flying, so looking forward to getting out and exploring local (unrestricted) areas to fly!

Hi @SteveF and welcome to Grey Arrows :wave:t2:

Have you seen our members map? (Click the burger-menu in the top right) You may find some pilots living near you. Feel free to add yourself to the members map too :+1:t2:

And please feel free to add locations of your own too.

Please also take a moment to look at the Membership Levels section on our FAQ as we’re quite different to other clubs and you’ll be eligible for some rather exclusive club discounts as your membership level increases

Welcome once again!

Hi Steve and welcome to GADC :+1: :+1:

Hello and welcome to the club😁

Hi Steven - welcome to GADC :+1: :+1: :+1:

Good choice of drone - I’m sure you’ll enjoy it :+1: :+1: :+1:

Thanks! I’ve certainly enjoyed the air-time I’ve had to date; very impressed with the images and pano’s I’ve captured.

Welcome Steve, I’m in Alton down the road from you, plenty of areas around you away from the airfield but watch the Farnborough restriction areas and of course those pesky chinooks that try to sneak up on you. :sunglasses::scream:

Hi @Donb1 Absolutely, there’s certainly plenty of Chinook action around here! :sunglasses:

Welcome Steve,
Yes the RAF are quite accommodating when possible. It is worth cultivating the association.

@SteveF Hi Steve welcome to the club happy flying

Welcome Steve to GADC

You seem to be in a similar situation to me, I have Abingdon army logistical camp on my doorstep (helicopters) RAF Benson, Brize Norton so will have to dodge the circles on the map.

Hi Steve - yes, around here we’ve got lot’s of exclusion zones with RAF bases, small aerodromes and of course, Farnborough. Interesting though that the DJI permitted flight software is often different to say, Altitude Angel. Obvs common sense prevails where there is a conflict.

Thats one of the (many) beauties of our own DroneScene, the ability to compare the made up crap that DJI puts out as well as the AA dataset, all in one easy to navigate tool.

Indeed - it is a very useful resource. There are lots of areas to explore that look flyable near me, despite plenty of airport and military FZRs!

Cheers Steve @SteveF
Ido believe it will only be with sensible flying in respect of privacy and location that our mini drones will enjoy the freedom we have now.
