New member greetings from Essex

Morning all,

I’m Andy, 41 from Brentwood, Essex.

I just wanted to create a post to introduce myself and to see who and what else the local area.

I have wanted a drone for ages and I finally decided to take the plunge just before Christmas, picking up a Mini 3 Pro - which I love. I am having a lot of fun just learning the basics and exploring some of the functions of the drone, such as the active track and some of the shooting functions.

I’ve signed up as an insured member as a bit of a no brainer, to be honest. For the extra few quid a year, it doesn’t make sense not to but I just wanted to know what, if any, additional insurance people have to cover accidental damage to their drone if they have an incident whilst flying? Do you have the cover that DJI supply or is there a company that someone would recommend for this?

Anyways, I look forward to seeing lots of content and maybe even meeting a few of you on a meet or two.

Hi @Bully and welcome to the club.
A lot of people use DJI Care Refresh which covers accidental damage and flyaways. They are usually spot on with customer service and have a pretty quick turnaround. There are other insurers out there too, but I haven’t used them.

I might complain about various aspects of DJI from time to time, but their Care Refresh package is worth every single penny. Fully recommended.

Yeah, fair one.

I didn’t take out the cover at the time but I’m starting to see the benefit of it.

I’ve spent this morning creating a verification video to get the cover. Hopefully that’ll all be approved and happy days.

Thanks.

Hi Bully
Welcome from another Essex member from Tiptree.
If you want to meet up and compare notes at any time, let me know.

I was very hesitant to buy it when I got my drone, I usually scoff whenever I buy something and they try to sell me additional cover. I’m glad I did, from what I’ve read and heard from other people on here. Seems pretty worthwhile!

100% the best thing to have with a DJI drone

Welcome Andy,

Yes drones are a lot of fun and a fantastic hobby

I’m from Essex langdon hills
Only been flying for a year now !

Welcome to Grey Arrows, from Maidstone, Andy,

I agree that DJI Care Refresh is the one to look at especially if you are learning the joys of the Mini 3 Pro. For several years I have had the Mavic 2 Pro to gain the fantastic 1" Hasselblad sensor. Obstacle avoidance is great but an odd branch can still catch it out, flying over water is always a worry as is losing signal.
