New Operator in Milton Keynes

Hi all, name here is Geoff and I am located in the North West corner of Milton Keynes.
I have been a keen active amateur photographer for many years and recently decided due to some health/mobility issues to purchase a drone. I have done this in the hope that it will allow me to obtain images in areas that I can no longer physically get to. I have been out twice so far getting to grips with the drone controls and have obtained a few reasonable still images, however the cine side of things is definitely a challenge and is going to take a lot of practise.
Looking forward to this new side to the Hobby.
Best Wishes to All.

Flying a drone is great fun but sometimes you feel the need to have a purpose for doing so and the Challenges category provides some great reasons for you to fly.

There are regular challenges which are open to all, that attract members of all abilities. Support, advice and constructive criticism is freely available; still photography, video and the techniques for editing both are involved in the challenges. Suggestions, for subjects or for complete challenges, are always welcome - take a look in the Challenges category for more information.

We’re a well established club with many knowledgeable members so it’s very likely that any issues you come across will have been discussed here before. Our discussion forum has very powerful search features which should help you find what you need but if you get stuck you can post a new question in the Questions & Answers category.

And finally, if you are new to drones and wondering what it’s all about, have a look at Resources for a beginner.

Welcome once again!

Welcome along @G0BYH Geoff enjoy :+1:

G0BYH … radio ham?

I’m not, but there are quite a few amongst our members.

Hi from sunny Blackpool, in a similar position myself. However I now find it frustrating because I want to fly in places I used to go when I was younger and fit and know it will never happen. I have been looking at electric “mountain trikes” (my balance is a bit shaky) to help mitigate this but they’re very expensive and have mixed reviews. Also in order to perform adequately I reckon I’d need a 500 watt one which are not legal on English roads.

Hi, Yes, been a licensed operator since 1984.Used to be very active on HF but things have changed over the years and tend not to operate much any more. Photography has taken over as my main Hobby now.
Best Regards
Geoff

Welcome tou the group. I too have mobility issues and fine the drone allows me to explore the surroundings while being able to stay with the car.
