New to Grey Arrows from Isle of Skye

Hi everyone, I have just joined Grey Arrows although I have owned a drone since 2017. I currently own a Dji Mavic Pro and have just acquired a Dji Mavic 2 Pro.

My main interest with drones is for photography and a bit of videography from time to time.

Flying a drone is great fun but sometimes you feel the need to have a purpose for doing so and the Challenges category provides some great reasons for you to fly.

There are regular challenges which are open to all, that attract members of all abilities. Support, advice and constructive criticism is freely available; still photography, video and the techniques for editing both are involved in the challenges. Suggestions, for subjects or for complete challenges, are always welcome - take a look in the Challenges category for more information.

We’re a well established club with many knowledgeable members so it’s very likely that any issues you come across will have been discussed here before. Our discussion forum has very powerful search features which should help you find what you need but if you get stuck you can post a new question in the Questions & Answers category.

And finally, if you are new to drones and wondering what it’s all about, have a look at Resources for a beginner.

Did a jailbreak from Chelmsford Prison in 84 for charity.

We entered the furthest by land and sea.

Other teams went south. We went north.

We drove to Sky via the ferry and won easily.

Of course this was before the bridge.

Sadly not been back since.

I am on vacation in mid September visiting the Isle of Skye. I am coming from Germany and already passed tests for my flight and operator ID.

I just wanted to ask you if there are any special rules or laws regaring the Isle of Skye regaring flying a drone. The Map doesn’t show nearly as much restricted fly zones as we have in Germany.

I mainly want to fly next to interessting coast areas with my Mavic 2 Pro.

I am very happily looking forward your unofficial answer.

Hi Wayne, all I would say is that we get military low flying practice quite often around Skye and also that there will be lots of fellow tourists around.
