Hi everyone!
I’m Greg and I fly camera drones and FPV.
I started on the DJI Mini3 Pro, which I still really enjoy flying, but then got the analog FPV bug and jumped on the Cetus X and Vapor D6. Now looking around for a 3.5 inch drone with a DJI O4 unit. Recommendations welcome!

Flying a drone is great fun but sometimes you feel the need to have a purpose for doing so and the Challenges category provides some great reasons for you to fly.
There are regular challenges which are open to all, that attract members of all abilities. Support, advice and constructive criticism is freely available; still photography, video and the techniques for editing both are involved in the challenges. Suggestions, for subjects or for complete challenges, are always welcome - take a look in the Challenges category for more information.
We’re a well established club with many knowledgeable members so it’s very likely that any issues you come across will have been discussed here before. Our discussion forum has very powerful search features which should help you find what you need but if you get stuck you can post a new question in the Questions & Answers category.
Our Associates are able to enjoy a lot of great services for free but our Members are eligible for a whole lot more! Read all the details about our Membership Benefits?
And finally, if you are new to drones and wondering what it’s all about, have a look at Resources for a beginner.
Welcome once again!

Hi from sunny Blackpool,
fancy FPV, but don’t know if my old brain could cope with it, analog seems far more complex than digital camera drones.
Know the feeling! To be honest it’s getting quite hard to get new analog BNF drones and digital is getting cheaper. I’m not sure it has quite the same penetration but good enough for my gentle flying.
Welcome!
What type of flying are you doing in the ipen with few crashes, or proximity with lots of crashes?
I like the Flyfish Volodor and Grinderino frames, and I think they would take 04’s though haven’t tried so worth a look first.
Volodor comes as a nice cheap all around 3.5 frame, where the Grinderino is a little tougher but more expensive and heavier, that also comes in 3.5.
Unsure about bind n flies for Grinderino but think I have seen for Volodor.
Hope to see you at a meet.
Hi Kawala,
I do all sorts of flying and have been sim training large and small drones.
Not sure if I’m ready to build my own drone at this stage, but definitely will in future.
Brilliant! I only ask in terms of how durable a frame/build you would be looking for.
Have been learning the hard way that not all the components and frames are ideal for all the styles of sending them.
Have you seen any bind n fly’s that grab interest even if not available currently?
I like the CineLog35 V3, but it’s quite new and the price is really high.
I’ve so far decided to fit an o4 unit on the vapor d6 and ordered the parts. A much cheaper option and it makes sense to have that on a deadcat frame.
So now that leaves me with no analog drone that I can generally burn about on and sling a starlight camera on it.
Given the state of affairs, I’m no longer sure if I really need a cinewhoop. An open frame like 3.5 or 4 inches would be great, ideally one that supports full size boards.
Sounds like a good choice on vapor/o4.
Think most of the modern 3.5" frames should support full size broads with a diagonal orientation, both the Volador and Grinderino do. If they claim to be “durable”, they should support a full stack.
4 inch might lend itself better to not being limited by the 250g threshold. I think even 3" is more ideal when trying to reach that optimal power to weight ratio (Chris Rosser has a good video on it), and 3.5 is kind of the compromise where it still feels like a big quad but can land under 250 without being a glass canon.
If fly in a way where you “never” crash, glass cannons are fine.
Keep sayin I will build as Cinewhoop next, and then build another fpv freestyler ![]()
