Newbie from neath port talbot

Hi all

Nice to meet you, Recently got myself a DJI FPV drone, and will be looking to hopefully meet up with other newbies or more experienced people in the near future, definitely did not flip the drone on my first use damaging the propeller immediately o.o

But after that had quite a few great practice attempts at take off and some good manual landings onto a car mat.

Any advise on optimising the range for the image transmission on the fpv past 500m would be appreciated ^^

Hi @ageotime - welcome to GADC from just down the road in Gorseinon :+1::+1::+1:

Thanks for the welcome, any good fly spots near by ? Ive mainly gone up to breacon just to make sure i dont crash haha

Welcome, fellow DJIFPV flier

Get the FCC hack on it, a few different options on how to do this, priced from free upwards.

Personally I’d recommend DroneHacks

Ahh okay, ill be sure to look into it when i get home thanks ^^

Should be some good spots just up the Afan Valley from Porthrhydfen up to Cymmer along the footpath that used to be the old railway line - bit closer to you than the Brecon Beacons :+1:

With the DJI FPV, don’t bother take off and landing in manual, switch back to sports/normal for that (unless you really want to!).

Fly high and practise those rolls, it’s definitely not one you want to hit the ground with! Powerful little beast that, and good to learn ACRO with!

Yeah kinda scared to touch manual mode , tried it on the sim app and it spiraled into every wall it could find haha but will get there eventually

Ill have to check it out havent really walked around those areas for years

Thanks for the advice, went out and tested after getting it updated works like a dream ^^

Awww if you not flying manual yet, then yes get used to it in the sim for days/weeks. It will click eventually

Yeah im pretty new all together with drones, im comfortable smashing into things with the cheap drones but with this one i think thats best to wait a little while haha how sensitive are the fpv drones in manual ? Im sure id get used to it before the worst comes this time

Just never crash the DJI FPV. It will die big time. Self built carbon frame ones you can crash (most of the time haha). Enjoy it though it’s great. Use the SIM

Hi @ageotime. I’m also a newbie from Neath.

Happy i could find a newbie nearby haha, hows the mini 4k going ?
