I’m new to FPV, having been practicing on sims for the last month initially with an xbox controller, then the RadioMaster Pocket. Yesterday after a 4 week wait my Darwin Baby Ape and EV800D goggles arrived.
I’ve got the Baby Ape setup now, bound to the controller and can see the camera output on my EV800D.
I’ve run through the setup steps in Joshua Bardwell’s BabyApe video, so that’s me naively thinking I’m all set for my 1st flight.
Well today I actually tried the EV800D on and realised that I can’t properly focus on the screen and the box is too narrow for me to fit glasses into. I’ve been advised to look for a spacer, but as none seem to on sale it looks like my only option is to get one 3D printed.
Can anyone recommend somewhere to do a 3D print from an STL that I have? Anywhere I’ve seen so far works out around £25, and I really want to find a cheaper option. I’m in Woking, so somewhere local where I can collect rather than waste £s on postage would be ideal.
Aside from that, I really can’t wait to get this thing in the air. I’ve got battery straps coming tomorrow (the velcro ones that came with the baby ape don’t wrap around my 3s 650mah batteries) but without a goggle solution I guess I’m not going to be flying this weekend
If you notice the model I posted actually has a complete new face plate piece. It fits over glasses and is a lot more comfortable than the standard EV800D one.
I did notice that, but didn’t want to ask too much from yorkie9668. I have no idea how much these things cost to print, That 2nd large part looks like it may use a lot of material.
How much do you need to do to that piece to make it useable? To you need to remove the optics from the EV800D interface and fit it into the Quest copy?
I have no idea how to send a DM on here ( I can’t see an option anywhere), but if you’re able to DM me I can share address details, you can let me know what I owe you. Thanks!
