Newbie with EV800D - I think I need a spacer to help focus

Evening All,

I’m new to FPV, having been practicing on sims for the last month initially with an xbox controller, then the RadioMaster Pocket. Yesterday after a 4 week wait my Darwin Baby Ape and EV800D goggles arrived.

I’ve got the Baby Ape setup now, bound to the controller and can see the camera output on my EV800D.
I’ve run through the setup steps in Joshua Bardwell’s BabyApe video, so that’s me naively thinking I’m all set for my 1st flight.

Well today I actually tried the EV800D on and realised that I can’t properly focus on the screen and the box is too narrow for me to fit glasses into. I’ve been advised to look for a spacer, but as none seem to on sale it looks like my only option is to get one 3D printed.

Can anyone recommend somewhere to do a 3D print from an STL that I have? Anywhere I’ve seen so far works out around £25, and I really want to find a cheaper option. I’m in Woking, so somewhere local where I can collect rather than waste £s on postage would be ideal.

Aside from that, I really can’t wait to get this thing in the air. I’ve got battery straps coming tomorrow (the velcro ones that came with the baby ape don’t wrap around my 3s 650mah batteries) but without a goggle solution I guess I’m not going to be flying this weekend :frowning:

Any suggestions appreciated.

3D Printing

Could someone 3D print something for me please?

Try here :+1:t2:

Thanks, you can tell I’m still new here

This one worked really well for my ev800d goggles when I still used them.

Let me know what you need 3D Printing will get it done tomorrow for you

Is it the blue part of this?

Thank you!!! Yes the spacers I’ve seen are basically that blue part.

I’ve just checked measurements and I think either a 30mm spacer will work.

There’s a 30mm STL at this link Eachine EV800 Spacer. Focus fix by villamany - Thingiverse

Again, thank you!!!

I’ll message you in the morning

If you notice the model I posted actually has a complete new face plate piece. It fits over glasses and is a lot more comfortable than the standard EV800D one.

I did notice that, but didn’t want to ask too much from yorkie9668. I have no idea how much these things cost to print, That 2nd large part looks like it may use a lot of material.

Material is cheap as chips…

How much do you need to do to that piece to make it useable? To you need to remove the optics from the EV800D interface and fit it into the Quest copy?

So do I need to print the larger of the two files?
Price isn’t an issue, just cover the postage

I ask because even that photo of the one you shared has the 2nd smaller adapter?

Just over 6 hours on my X1C

Hi!

On the link I shared (Eachine EV800 Spacer. Focus fix by villamany - Thingiverse) there is a file called ev800Spacer30mm.STL which I think just fits onto the EV800D as a spacer.

On the page that Yith shared it looks like both pieces would be needed to use that mod.

If you’re willing to do them all I’ll take that as a massive favour and of course I’ll cover postage and

Yes you transfer the optics over. You’ll also need a few nuts and bolts for the straps.

I have no idea how to send a DM on here ( I can’t see an option anywhere), but if you’re able to DM me I can share address details, you can let me know what I owe you. Thanks!

Sent you one, just click the name and send message

Nearly there with the larger part
