Hello all, completed my combined A2 CofC and GVC just in time for CAA fee hike kicking in.

70% work, 30% hobby. Would be other way round if my 12 year old son had a choice.

Commercial side/work pushed me into it but grabbed the chance with both hands.

I have a Mavic 3 Pro with the RC Pro controller and Mini 4 Pro with RC2. The mini 4 gets more outings as most work near/over folk. Commercial Insurance & PI etc.

Its been a massive learning curve as many things to learn.
Drone flying/Law
Photography
Video editing
Knowing the law
Following the processes.

Expensive as well.

Pretty happy with the baseline knowledge and now into the “what you learn from experience” stage/trees hurt.
Looks like this is a constant learning/change gig. Now I know why they train you like a pilot in the GVC, not just for all the acronyms, but to face constant changes in the procedures!

I still have questions, like everyone doing something new but I’m lucky in that what I finished my training, that is not the end of it. The company are there for any questions/crash or incident support etc.

However, this is the first will I put on here.

I see UK posts about “how do you find the laws when flying you drone in Spain”

So can you take Li-Po batteries on a commercial flight/plane? If so, I would guess hand luggage only??

I only doubt because I had to send a a Mavic 3 privately but no courier (other than a specialist for ÂŁ400) would touch them. Two batteries max I was told.

Then, I had to send back my full Mini 4 skymaster to DJI as it kept losing C2 signal within spiting distance and RTH. DPD picked it up no worries. Pick up was arranged by DJI.

Cheers

Flying a drone is great fun but sometimes you feel the need to have a purpose for doing so and the Challenges category provides some great reasons for you to fly.

There are regular challenges which are open to all, that attract members of all abilities. Support, advice and constructive criticism is freely available; still photography, video and the techniques for editing both are involved in the challenges. Suggestions, for subjects or for complete challenges, are always welcome - take a look in the Challenges category for more information.

We’re a well established club with many knowledgeable members so it’s very likely that any issues you come across will have been discussed here before. Our discussion forum has very powerful search features which should help you find what you need but if you get stuck you can post a new question in the Questions & Answers category.

Hi @Fonz and welcome .
Your question about taking a drone on a commercial flight. Yes, many airlines allow drones and their batteries onboard. As you rightly realise, batteries must only be taken on as hand luggage. If you’re taking a drone abroad, check beforehand with the airline you’re flying with. :+1:
