North West informal meet and fly - Sunday 1st October - location Manchester Ship Canal, near Sow Brook Park, Lymm - Now 3PM until 6PM

Yeah, it’s tipping down atm, just back from Foley’s meet and sorting the batteries to charge and drones to update…

Hmm, tomorrow morning now looks pretty poor, 80% chance of rain until 2pm and improves from 3 and 4 to a small chance, but the ground will then be wet…

We can delay the start and meet at 3pm-4pm and then fly until teatime, OR we could postpone until next Sunday when the forecast currently looks a bit better - but a lot can change in a week…

Happy to meet tomorrow either at original time and hope for a weatehr break or to delay until mid afternoon, or to postpone for a week, what do you want to do?

So, what do we all want to do???

  • Meet as planned at 9-10am and chance the weather
  • Delay until mid afternoon and meet at 3 to 4pm tomorrow
  • Delay for a week and meet next Sunday (8th October) at 9am

Also parking this here for future reference: Peel now do a shipping departures / arrivals board which may be relevant for Ship Canal boatspotters, although most of the entries seem to relate to Liverpool and its docks rather than the MSC:

Happy to do whatever, if it brightens up I will probably go out flying somewhere anyway

Well, we can always do both, a fly tomorrow afternoon at 3-4pm for a couple of hours, and another meet next Sunday for those that want to come back and can’t make tomorrow…

I’m happy to go tomorrow 3-4 but if its still raining at that time or near that time, call it off and meet next week.

I will try to come tomorrow at 3ish

Great I’ve done your battery stickers for you

I’m happy to go with 3-4pm. I regularly use two weather apps - this one from the Met office

and this one from Accuweather

Both say different things :man_shrugging:t3::man_shrugging:t3:

Thank you Suzanne for doing the arranging and the polls.
Checking the weather maps - if the winds stay as expected - it’ll rain overnight and in the morning but be dry in the afternoon. Unfortunately I can’t make the afternoon so I’ll have to leave it till next week.
Hope everyone has nice fly in the afternoon :helicopter:

No worries Paul, its not too onerous a task… We will fly tomorrow and next Sunday, and then see if we can organise another in the not too distant future

Look forward to it. :+1:

Have a good day, those that make it along to this today. :+1:

Thanks Dave

we will be leaving in a min, meet in the car park?

Yup, its 5 mins from us, so just supping a brew and will be on our way… Meet in car park and then we can all walk down to the flying area - or fly in the Playing fields if its empty, depending on how wet the path is… Been a lot less wet than 100% chance of rain would suggest today…

Okay 30 mins away

Good to meet some of you earlier. a few of my shots from the outing, straight off the Mini 4 with no editing.

Well given the postponement with the weather that turned out rather well, 8 folks turned upo and flew an assortment of DJI AVATA, MINI3 Pro, MINI3, AIR3 and a maiden flight of a MINI4!!

Thanks all for turning out and walking along the rather muddy path for about 1km to the flying spot which turned out to be a good place to fly from well spotted @SparkyFPV. Thanks to all who came…

Now to plan out what we are going to do next Sunday I will strt another thread for that…

Lots oif video including a close up of a high speed pidgeon who almost toook out my AIR3 in Sports mode - think I have a look of fear on his face! as certainly one on mine!!
