North west meet-up - Sunday 8th September 2019

The minimum height is 500ft except for take off and landing. With dispensation for military aircraft, regardless of class of airspace. That’s just a generalisation.
But you guys are right. Huge can of worms.
Next time I will put a NOTAM in then we are covered.

Good vid Naz…

Short Video of drones in the sky from yesterdays meet.

So flyby should have known better.

Wouldn’t it be ironic for a report to be logged against the aircraft that buzzed you by a drone pilot?.
Shoe on the other foot, for a change.
Just saying.

Did anyone get a photo / vid of the plane?

…Especially if there were footage!

Yeah, that would be a poke in the eye to the ATC of the area you were in.
I do believe that having someone nominated (who is not flying a drone) at meets that we may have, could be spotter to other aircraft, like what has happened to you Guys.
Even better have a good telephoto lens/binoculars to get their plane number.
Just an idea guys.
Just out of curio?, I guess you guys were on a hill?.
What height was the plane?

Judging from my OS map, we were on a viewpoint roughly 50m above the reservoir. The aircraft was below our eyeline, I think?

I agree that for larger meets we should designate a spotter in future.

Either below, or level-with :+1:t2:

I agree 50m above the water for our height, as I’m 6’ I would say it was slightly below eye level so considering the angle I would guess he was at 50m above the water.
I think a cap mounted action cam might become a vital piece of kit.

Maybe we should all brainstorm in on ideas of what steps need to be taken prior to a meet (anywhere), and also checks that may need to be made on the day…
That way a checklist for the organizer can be made, to ensure everyone’s safety, and also to show responsibility should any Official bodies turn up.
It shows that anything unexpected can happen on the day !.

Does anyone fancy doing this again anytime soon?
