I came across this FOI request, where Barking and Dagenham Council argue that a drone is considered a missile, and their park byelaws prohibit missiles, and therefore their park byelaws prohibit drones. And here’s the one by Grey Arrows Drone Club to the same council (reply pending).

I’m still battling my way through these.

Just a heads up, you’ll see a few of these requests with a status of “did not have the information requested” response, eg:

This is more often than not because they don’t actually have a byelaw or policy, so they can’t supply me with any details.

Therefore, please don’t read the red colour as meaning you can’t fly there, it’s probably the exact opposite.

@CalderDrone hope you don’t mind, I’ve merged your thread in to this one so it flows

Crikey, Derby City Council’s answer says they are awaiting an internal review :open_mouth::open_mouth::open_mouth::open_mouth:

Tried all sorts of names for drones. DCC’s website doesn’t find anything.
Yesterday I phoned about an unrelated matter. “Hi this is Ali, your AI assistant. I will get you through to the department you want. Please state your query in the form of a question. I’m still learning so speak slowly and clearly.” Eventually put me through to a human, who then connected me to a completely different department, who put me through to another department ( ad nauseum) This AI system has (apparently) cost over £8 million. I have to wonder how many people they could employ to answer phones for £8 million ? ( They claim this will save money in the long term ) Their website isn’t much better, with the Digital AI Assistant called Darcie.:roll_eyes::roll_eyes::roll_eyes:

We have requested internal reviews from a number of authorities regarding their exceptionally poor handling of our request.

Crikey, knowing my council, they’ll have to have a full council meeting to set up a committee to authorise the internal review. ( because that’s the way it’s allus been done lad ):rofl::rofl:

I feel that perhaps I am being a little dim here but am unable to locate this map (which sounds very interesting) anywhere on the dronescene website. Could I have a link??

Also - it looks as though you’re quite new here :wave:t2:

Why not nip over to the Introductions page, and say hello properly and tell us a bit about yourself. :+1:t2:

The fear ofCouncils now bringing bylaws to stop drone flying, will not be that easy now as they have to go out for public consultation and publish that they are. That then is the time to register opposition to it. the past they got hardly any opposition, but at the same time there was no support to prevent it being implemented. So it will be quite simple in future to get enough in favour of negating the proposed legislation. A lot of councils are turning to the the legislatio protecting public spaces such as Tonbridge and Malling have in place, it went through with just a few oppositions to Drones. This order only last for 3 years and must be renewed, thats the time to have a concerted campaign to oppose it. You have to do it within a very short period of time. So everyone if they come up against that legislation being used, make a note of when it was instigated and when its due for renewal. lets stop them in their tracks.
Also its interesting how Grenwich Council have a Bylaw which was instigated way back and attached to the end of it is the word “Drones”. they must have had second sight to see that drones woulld be an preceievd issue in years to come, or how did they know to add it on the end. Could it have been an “afterthought”. a legal one ???. anyone in Greenwich see if you can find out.

Some councils are also using PSPO ( public space protection orders) to discourage drone flights

All these FOI requests have just made authorities aware they needed to implement new byelaws to ban drones.

That didn’t happen three years ago when the last lot of FOI requests were submitted @patcarty2, and we don’t expect it to happen this year.

If I reminded you that your door was unlocked, I have no doubt you would lock it!

The drone scene has also changed a hell of a lot over the past three years.
