Iā€™m sure heā€™ll get everything thatā€™s coming to him ( and the press will have a field day, or at least the Daily Fail will ):wink:

You think as a ā€˜security designerā€™ heā€™d have the gumption to be aware of the rules but yet again itā€™s another example of an idiot potentially tarnishing everyone else.

This article suggest that maybe the pilot didnā€™t fully know the rules at the time

Blockquote Dalby pleaded with the bench for leniency while explaining that he had since secured a drone operator license and realized that he shouldnā€™t have flown over a crowd. ā€œIt was an honest mistake that I will ensure will never repeat itself,ā€ he said. > Blockquote

More reason for any seller of drones to include some form of booklet that gives out the basics and points the new owner to the like of the drone safe / caa sites for more info as its no excuse to say "ooops sorry I didnā€™t know ! "

They got off mega lucky with a less than Ā£900 fine !

Looks like he hasnā€™t posted anything on his Instagram since August.

Yepā€¦My sympathy scale for him in 0

I feel no sympathy for this person, again ignored the warnings, no knowledge of the laws and probably not even registered the drone before flying recklessly. Court should of made an example of this person.
Access to drones should be restricted or registered upon purchase, to monitor whom or where they get sold to. Judges should set the full gravity of the situation in a hefty fine or custodial sentence to drive home how serious this may of ended.

Cases like this really demonstrate that the CAA should be focussing on education, making sure all drone owners are aware of the rules, rather than bringing yet more restrictive regulations for those who already do follow the rules :frowning:

I am desperately trying to think of a humorous comment including the expression ā€œWeapon of Choiceā€.

Any offers ?

And you can just see the way the CAA are going to go :wink:

About the best I can do

He got off lightly. I imagine because he probably came across as genuinely sorry.

I would expect if it had been someone a bit more chavvy, the book would have been thrown at them.

Moved your post to the thread where this was already discussed a few weeks ago.
