First question:
Is it possible to pre program a flight plan for a Mini 3 ?
ie use a map and specify a route and altitude.
Follow up question:
If it’s possible, how would I do it ?
I am totally new to this and my piloting skills are pretty basic so far, but it would be very handy to plot a flight path at a specified altitude and let the drone follow it without me intervening.
Can a Google Map be used or does it involve inputting ordnance survey waypoints etc ?
I’m not sure if you can on the mini 3.
But for not a lot of pennies you can get Litchi
Some on here use nothing else to fly and forget about the fly app.
I have tried to find info on this subject, the Waypoints function on the mini 3 pro only does a planned flight as a Hyperlapse. Apparently, if you have a Android phone, you can get a third party App (possibly Litchi) that lets you do normal video flights using their Waypoints function. Alas I have a iPhone and it won’t work with that.
If you do find an option that works without buying a new phone then please let us all know.
Al the best.

After a quick look it doesn’t seem as though MAVEN will work with the Mini 3
The Mini 2 is okay but there’s something about the new system on the Mini 3 that means it won’t work.
And of course I am an iPhone user so Litch wont work … yet … although there maybe hope for Litchi Pilot.
I didn’t realise it wouldn’t work with mini3/pro
I have contacted the Maven developer and asked them about Mini 3 compatibility.
Will update when I get a response.
More info here
Waypointmap.com lets you generate .kmz waypoint files. You can then use a pc to transfer that file to your controller.
I think you have to rename the file you generate to the same as an existing waypoint file on your remote
Not supported for the Mini 3
Good to know.
Ive not tried it personally so im not arguing.
I know the website works to generate files.
As to uploading the file, ill try it out the next time I see the chap with a mini 3. Any idea what the specfic issue is?
No waypoint features at all on the mini 3?
Thats pretty specific
Not onboard but will fly virtual sticks
Virtual sticks !
Another new concept
Never realised drones would be so esoteric
