Radiomaster Boxer setup

Hi wonderful fountains of knowledge

Looking for some detailed help here, I’m trying to set up my drone to a radiomaster Boxer and I’ve followed instructions manual, YouTube, oscar Laing and not having any luck. I got quite far with a YouTube video but then got lost on usb setup.

I downloaded a elrs configurator but my pc won’t open the .exe file so I’m really stumped…who knew building one of these would be so stressful :pensive:

If someone could guide me through it, I’d happily drop ship some beers to you via my drone.

Thanks
David

HI David,

Such fun!

Q1 - Which drone are you trying to bind it to?
Q2 - Do you know which receiver on the drone ?
Q3 - Have you tried connecting to the ELRS receiver on the drone via its own hotspot - " expresslrs (This is my preferred method) ? Also this means you do not need the elrs configurator

Further on hotspot.

Only power the flight controller via USB (Video transmitter will no be powered.). After about 2 mins a new wifi network should be available - …

Bartwell has the answer.

Hey, appreciate the time to reply😊 I have built a 5" quad with a speedybee stack f405 V3.

I’ve managed to get it connected to beta flight, spun the motors etc so it works (surprisingly) firmware is uptl date too.

But binding it…damn, feels like a new language again. I’ll watch that video after work and see if I can make any sense with it!
Thanks
David

Don’t think this has an in build ELRS ?

@DavidFPV
Which part of the country are you in?
Cheers Steve :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m in Teesside, Stevie. (Stockton to be precise)

I attached a happy model (thing) to the FC too, guess this could make more sense?

Post some photos of what you have wired inay the moment

This is my set up at the moment.

Does that help or do you need more specific photo?

Nice

With the speedybee powered via USB - do you get the leds coming on the soldered ELRS receiver ?
Does it to to hotspot mode after a minute ?

I only get three lights on the FC one white, red and (blue flashing)

Nothing on the elrs receiver however it is soldered to the correct pads.

Should this have lights on without my transmitter turned on?
Cheers
David

usually the pads marked 5V are powered by the main battery - but make sure to keep it short / or with a fan running on the quad.

the pad marked 4V5 will likely be the one that can also be powered by the USB (no need for the battery / fan)

If someone could spare 20 mins for a call or online Google meet to run me through the remaining setup id be eternally grateful. Tried all day but I have no more avenues to try now.

What model is the ELRS reciever ?
Normally all have LEDs

I put my money on Cedric - power it via main battery and does the ELRS now have LEDs ?

YES! Put some air cooling when using the main battery

Yes I e plugged it into the battery now and the elrs receiver has a green flashing led now, do you know what I need to do from here?

Wait for wifi statusaka hotspot and follow the video.

So I’ve built, updated and flashed the firmware on both the transmitter and the receiver. Green light now stays on (I think it’s good) and they both see each other. Can’t see how to bind them or arm them anywhhere?

Solid light suggests it is binded.

Arming … I am presuming you are using beta flight.

What do you see on the receiver tab when you move any of the boxer switches or sticks ?

Arming switch MUST BE on channel for ELRS
