I will definitely be testing over land next time .
But I still feel confident over water .
Once I have determined limits of the current setup I intend looking for the larger battery.
The main thing I have taken away from this is the thrill of making it back unscathed.
Water can absolutely tank RF signals so in terms of signal range would get further over open land, but thats a bit harder to find.
Not in my experience. Waaaaaay further perfect signal over water.
Interesting, I suppose aerial is different with the vertical separation as I’ve heard colloquially from folks at work using ASV’s that they really struggle with signal integrity possibly through water vapour near the surface (although they probably have to stick to 25mw as well)
To the best of my knowledge, you cannot get better than 100% signal strength/quality …
… and that’s 6 year old tech.
