I have messaged Sincoder to try and clarify if upgrade is OK or not and I have a response direct from the horses mouth.

Me - ā€œI have your FCC bypass applied to v1.03.0100 which is working perfectly but there is a new firmware update v1.03.0400 and I just wanted o check if it is OK to upgrade and reapply the patch to the new version or not?ā€

Sincoder - ā€œReinstall before upgradeā€
ā€œAnd you canā€™t downgrade after upgradeā€

Me - ā€œWhen you say reinstall do you mean reapply the patch and then upgradeā€

Sincoder - ā€œYesā€

Me - ā€œJust to clarify before I commit. I need to apply it again before update but will it also need to be run again after update?ā€

Looks like it can be done just no downgrade option afterwards. I am just trying to work up the courage to do it :smiley:

I should add that I have it applied to the DJIRC on v1.03.0100 not the Pro!

:man_facepalming: I updated my controller which had the patch but didnā€™t know you had to reinstall before it upgraded and I get an error now and cant work out how to downgrade the software.

When you say get an error is your drone bricked? Or will it just not apply the patch any more?

It just wonā€™t apply the update to the RC, everything else is appears to be working although the RC seems sluggish after the firmware update but iā€™m guessing that is a DJi problem.

Quick moral

Never update DJI firmware unless you really have to (even then wait until itā€™s tried and tested)

Ah so there is an upgrade on the patch, I assume.

So re-patch 1.09.0100, then upgrade to 1.03.0400 then re-patch 1.03.0400

Not sure how many would know that.

Not wanting to confuse the situation, Iā€™m wondering if these steps is for the RC PRO as well, as thereā€™s an update ( which Iā€™ve not done ) for increased screen brightness, or that is what is on the FW update list from DJI .

Is what I thought, Iā€™ve messaged him to check procedure, thereā€™s no hurry so Iā€™ll wait till he gets back to me, would I be correct in saying the patch Iā€™m running now is still ok as it is, even if thereā€™s a different one.

What you are running hasnā€™t changed and as long as you donā€™t update nothing will change

Sincoder wonā€™t know what DJI are up too till its too late

Itā€™s a cat and mouse game, wait till itā€™s been tried and tested by others and be careful of advice thatā€™s not correct

At least till I know the score, my patch is working fine with the FW Iā€™m running, so Iā€™ll leave until I know otherwise for the updated ( screen brightness ) etc :+1:t2:
