Thanks guys. I got it all flying and it’s working no worries on Sunday! Boom ended up a quick build. Got the radio on Edge TX, all setup. Some VTX tables, and boy I’m very annoybed at run cam right now…

I soldered it this way about a week ago…

Before getting it all together I noticed further on in document…

So I resoldered before powering up…

It works OK, but turns out I wanted it the way I had it first if I want to “stop/start” recording from a radio switch (which sounds WAAAYYY better than buttons on the drone…)

Before I take it apart (and my stack nuts are so fiddly as can’t rotate them freely due to my adapter), do I need to change it? hmmm

I will also get on to these ESC settings and make sure at 8k for gyro/PID loop. All makes sense. Good old Bardwell video heh. Oh also need to get the VTX tables on it!

I just have mine set to auto record as soon as it powers on. Sure I get vid of me putting batteries in, chatting before the flight, etc… but that’s what trim tools are for.

Oh, it’s because there’s two things for the FC to control.
One is the setup of the camera… you can do this once and forget.
Second is to actually stop/start the dvr.

In actual fact neither is needed really…

yeah it can do two things. How annoying they have two RX/TX pairs. When I soldered it for second time I had missed all the first bit otherwise would have researched… Might just leave it. It’s got all the white balance, etc, etc on there. I guess ones really for analogue control and one for the HD recording… There a spare UART… lol

Here’s my FC. I think I have UART 2 on GPS, and 5 on the runcam. Wha does 6 telem do? Oh that’s from the ESCs…

Did I read you can use the LED ports on these things as soft serial?

You can yes, since the WS2812 LED protocol needs a timer and so those connections have one.

You do have rather a lot of UARTS anyway… it’s not like it’s an F411 with just 3 available…

I WANT ONE MORE lol…

I’ve filled em. I could connect both UARTS on the camera you see

God help you on a 3" build… lol

Having said that the FC on my 3" build I’ll be rebuilding tonight (Armattan Tadpole HD frame is to be delivered today!) has UARTS 1,2,4,5,6 all broken out to pads…

Some of those pads are a bit small though… it’s a 20mm stack, not 30mm.

lol @Yith

I found a good guide on my issue, though think I worked it all out.

Makes sense that can only use one at a time (BF can only use one at a time!), and with auto record, think I’ll just do that, and keep it as it is for now! Maybe change when need to pull it all apart.

That rings a bell from when I setup mine, now that you mention it.

yeah so I guess if were to wire up both UARTs you’ve leave the recording one on most of the time and switch the UART in BF when you needed to access the settings. I think settings is better, but we’ll see where we at!

She’s a ready to fly! All blue glued up. Buzzer replaced and hover test (yes inside) done!
