My, very simple, rule with formatting SD Cards …
ALWAYS format them in the device you are going to use them in!
Some create their own folder structures that they get upset about if they’re not there.
Within most top level format types, there can be different block sizes, etc. The device will always do it correctly for its own requirements.
As I said above, you can extend your device storage on to the SD card. So when you fill up the internal memory with all manner of crap apps, you can store them on the SD card instead.
You can also use the SD card to cache your lower quality flight video on to.
There’s not a lot else you can do with it, you’ll find it’s bit of a non-feature really
