So... what's on your bench at the moment?

Here’s how I spend my crazy Saturday nights while drivel is on the tv.
I’m attempting to make a 6s2p li-ion pack from some 18650 cells salvaged from some laptop batteries. Only problem is, I only have a 4s balance lead, so I’ll bodge something up until an order gets delivered.
I was going to build a spot welder tonight to make them, but I put my soldering iron on max, fluxed the battery tops, and the solder just covered the terminals beautifully.
Now I’m running out of thick wire to connect them together. But I’ve got this lovely idea of using the copper core of some tv rf cable. They are 1mm thick so 8amps? I’ll use 4 strands and see what happens.

I bought these a while back, but can’t really get on with them. Cos they are naff.
I’m going to strip it down and mod my reading glasses so they have the adjustable lights on them.

Good old super glue! Reading glasses with LED illumination.

The misses said “What if you don’t want them on your glasses?”
I reinforced the point that they were from Poundland, so I can just get another pair.

… a rebuild of an old classic

Spend the past week building a DJI ‘Flamewheel’ 450mm quadcopter
Many of the old guys here cut there teeth on this, or the 550mm Hexacopter version.
True to history this has a NAZA V2 flight controller with GPS/Compass and the USB/LED module.
Also added the system OSD, not as comprehensive as what we are used to with modern OSDs but has the important stuff
Using a 4K action camera for the FPV feed, a bit of latency won’t bother me, it’s a ‘park fun flyer’
Best think about this ???
I know it will fly, NAZA’s are rock solid.:laughing:

Another day, and another build.

This time the Tyro119, to go with the Tyro129 I built a few weeks ago.
Just need the Tyro79, if Banggood pull their finger out and stock it in the UK warehouse again.

Nearly there…

“anyone on here using Frsky R-XSR” ?

Yeah got a couple of them on non-EU firmware @Njoro

Mine seems to have died, I’ve tried to flash EU / FCC but no joy, I’ve done it that much that the tiny button popped off. I’ve tried firmware off Frsky site the V1 and V2 and nothing works.
I’ve been trying to get PID telemetry to work which did for a while then just stopped, F4 on latest Betaflight.
Have you got PID Vtx telemetry working?

Don’t think I ever tried to be honest. I had a PID Lua script on taranis.

It’s been that long since I’ve played with any of this I’m struggling to remember the basics.

In the last few years I’ve installed an R-XSR in tinyhawk and that’s about it as far as my FPV stuff goes.

I’ve still got the TBS Gemini to test and replacement 5" build parts not even out the packaging.

I’m the same, it’s been too long too, I’ve forgotten so much that I think I might have flashed it with something else…

I’ve just found 2 EU versions on eBay so ordered, it looks like I have to go back to basics and watch some YouTube videos. I have a Taranis X-lite which I think can only ran Luac and not Lua due to memory size.
I take the FCC can be flashed with EU? I might drop you a line to see if you’re willing to let go of one of your two RX…

Yeah I bought my first one from ebay with worldwide firmware. That was lost with the 5" quad. I initially flashed it EU but then had to flash everything worldwide so I could usey taranis with D8 whoops.

My other 2 were EU LBT from quadcopters and flashed with worldwide firmware.

Both of mine are now in models or I would have given you one mate.

Sorted…Re-flashed iXJT + Betaflight wasn’t saving my Sport…:man_shrugging:

Had a little mishap with my tinyhawk earlier and ripped the SPort pad off the r-xsr.

The pads for SPort and inverted SBUS are tiny! I usually put some hot melt glue over the wire but hadn’t got round to it yet.

Hot glued too on mine from day one, any chance you’ll be able to repair yours?

No chance repairing the SPort pad.

Using the un-inverted SBUS pad instead.

I use R-XSR receivers in my Riot 250 Pro quads. I’m getting all the PID telemetry back to the radio via F-Port. It’s a while ago but I’m sure that the receivers came standard with F-Port enabled, to use S-Port you had to flash with a different firmware.

Great, I take your flight controller is happy accepting inverted signal. Things have come along way as I can remember the inverted issues of some years ago…
