If there is a red wire in the middle of the ESC plug, take it out. Insulate it, tie it back.
This wire has 5volt power on it from a regulator in the ESC, HOWEVER the pin on the Flight controller has 5volts from its own regulator. It is not good to have these two fighting each other so we use the FC’s regulator. (reason is that in the event of a problem the ESC is likely to fail first so we don’t use it’s 5volts for anything flight critical) it is great though
for accessories such as lighting
You can just connect the signal wire can’t you? Though the gnd being connected doesn’t hurt? Just checking for future reference
Yes works with just the signal, on older PWM ESC’s twisting the signal and ground wire together was recommended to reduce interference
However on newer DSHOT ESC’s the digital signal is much more solid and using just one wire should not cause any issues
As mads would say “interesting”. Painless says to use pwn so I do. My wing pwn not dshot. Interesting
Most ESC’s on bigger planes are not BL-Heli and run on PWM only
However the smaller wings and twin pusher planes fit the smaller quad type ESC’s (BL-Heli) better and I run mine on DSHOT60. I don’t have to set the upper and lower limits and I can change motor direction using software rather than dig into the plane to swap motor wire around.
Oh yeah get the benefits absolutely. Planes not like a quad where you have to change speed ALL the time. Still good to know cheers Stevie
Oops I meant “twin puller planes”
Well it’s finished and working need some weight in the tail as it got a huge battery in it, maybe a little to big ??
But other than that it should work now just need to test it and TBH I’m shitting it
having not flown 1 before. The issue was my pitch and roll wasn’t centred…
Who is down the heli club tomorrow and is there room for 1 more?? …
Yes, Brendan is not going, so I have a guest space.
I need to get my Baby AR Wing Pro up as well…
Cool what time u all meeting?? And snap I’ll bring mine as il have no clue how to fly it
10:00 onwards…
What have you fitted ?
What should I have for this @Steviegeek ?
I’ve got one but think it’s not the right one
Hi Howard
Due to weight distribution, most people use a 4S 5000mAHr LiPo, the CHNL pack fits nicely.
Personally for a LR Cruiser I’d use a LiIon pack probably 4S2P using 18650 cells, more capacity for smaller volume
As in most things it’s a compromise on your usage requirements
And the full film
Thanks for sorting my settings
No worries mate, pleased to help
