Agreed the buildings didn’t help but the bizarre thing is when the drone came back towards the RNR building i could clearly see it in line of sight and it just didn’t seem to budge. This is where it wouldn’t move in any direction for a period of time.
These things make DJI drones do strange things
What you really need is a huge power-cut in London … then rush out and fly around 'til your heart’s content.
This was interesting because I flew the same area about 3 months ago and never received any such warnings, but today they were frequently popping up on the App notifications.
I’ve flown this area twice now and will firmly put flying there to bed… I’ve found some new sites more into the East End to explore.
Check out the Navel building on Wikipedia. This might answer some questions.
I know it’s history well, I’m originally from the East End
And since then you would have downloaded the latest fly safe database that DJI make up as they go along
Ahhh I last recall HMS President wasn’t an authorisation zone, after looking now it is!
@uav_hampshire Yeah I was born in the eastend too
Me - E2
me E7
Where about? me too
@uav_hampshire
seen it E2 Bethnal green. Me too
Thanks all for the most informative replies to my post… I know @OzoneVibe mentioned the valid possibility of the festering WiFi in the stretch of buildings I was close by to. And the obvious signal interference as I temporarily dipped behind the building itself.
But what miffed me about the entire flight was as can be seen on the map, I regained VLOS but this is the point in the flight it felt like something had taken control because I was trying to return to home and the drone was barley gaining speed. It finally freed itself, thank god!!
A strange flight I never want to repeat again!!!
Were you at 400ft? It can get pretty windy up there for a little 250g piece of flying plastic
My drone is set to a max of altitude of 393 feet and the wind was 7mph at that particular point of the day. To be honest that’s the only reason why I headed down to the river due to the very reasonable wind speed.
Is that a yes or a no?
You were in/close to a DJI Authorization Zone
You were also having lots of interference and connection issues, which considering the area is not surprising
To be honest I think you are lucky to have got it back
To my knowledge I was not at 400 feet. If my max altitude is set at 393 feet then surely the drone shouldn’t climb any further?
You were also in an Altitude zone and having GPS issues
