Surrey meet-up - Saturday 15th March

Admin Edit : 15th March and Gapemouth Road, Pirbright

Hiya all. I am wondering if there is any interest in meeting up for a few hours in March one Saturday. The weather should be better by then and it would be good to see who else is local. There is an ideal (boring) field near me in Pirbright which would be suitable, however there are plenty of more interesting places nearby too if people want to grab some footage e.t.c

If interested please shout up and we can get something arranged. Was thinking informal couple of hours somewhere nearby.

Well the world is thy oyster. I guess as long as it is clear of seagulls we should be ok?

I am thinking of the following but anywhere is possible:

-Newlands Corner, Guildford (large car park and snacks, bit predictable and will be busy)
-Field in Gapemouth Road, Pirbright (will be empty and hazard free, no real panoramic views)
-Anywhere south of Wanborough under the A31 (huge expanse of ruralness with no restrictions)
-Ripley (easy access from A3, parking available, average views)

Ripley could be a good shout, there is an abandoned monument near the river wye which could be fantastic subject matter, however it would need people to be prepared to find suitable parking nearby (it is residential and free) and walk to the location as it is off the main road.

Just ideas.

I’m interested, can’t commit until nearer the time but I like the idea.

Ripley is nice, right on the river, and there is a decent pub right on the river which is about a 2km flat pretty walk up the river (or paddle if you are really keen Janet!), the New Inn at Send although it might be too chilly to sit outside.

I flew my DJI over the Priory there once, definitely interesting but I’m not sure what the land regs are if you had to recover an FPV, but it is well worth finding out!

I’d be interested! I’d need to confirm the date closer to the time. It also depends on how FPV-friendly the proposed location is. Nevertheless, I’m interested! :smiley:

The Ripley site will need visiting I think so I will do that over the coming weeks. I will film it and post a video on here so you can assess parking, route to the location and whether it is suitable.
