Does a Dam count for this?

Short answer - no.

As an aside and at the risk of being patronising we require a building with a will article devoted to the building itself, not an article about an area that mentions the building in passing.

Cheers, thought it was worth asking :+1:

Here’s my entry for:

4. A tractor working in a field

I claim two bonus points for:

  • Bonus if there is more than one tractor working in the same field
  • Bonus if there is a combine harvester working in the same field.

I’m also playing a joker for five additional bonus points:

  • A video (at normal speed), minimum 30 seconds, maximum 60 seconds. The video can be one continuous shot or separate takes edited together

Date/Time: August 10th, at around 4pm.
Drone: DJI Mini 4 Pro
Location: Just outside Cairneyhill, Scotland

Three points for the subject and two bonuses - shame the tractors were both John Deeres.
And five points for your wee video.

(You can get closer to the subjects if you wish  )

8 points total

Doesn’t look it, but the wind was gusting just about on the edge of where I was comfortable with the Mini, and my TOAL spot was on the grass verge beside a busy A985. Up, get the points, down, walk (carefully) a half-mile along the verge back to where I’d abandoned the car

I shall try to do better for the rest

In previous years I’ve created a spreadsheet to track the treasure hunt subjects. It’s okay for when I’m sitting at home planning, but if I’m out and about it’s useless. So I decided to give Apple Reminders a try this year. Much more convenient… I thought I’d share the tip for any other iPhone users out there who have sieve-brains like mine and need a quick go-to reminder of why they’ve just spent an hour driving somewhere.

Apparently sub-reminders has been a thing in Apple Reminders since iOS 13… I just discovered it a few days ago thanks to my fat fingers accidentally dragging things about in my shopping list.

Impressive!

Beats our scraps of paper and tired old post-it notes

And Ian @DroneGeek - although he isn’t competing this year because of ill-health - doubtless has his own spreadsheet/scoresheet on the go.

Get well soon Ian!

Not yet dug it out - other priorities, but I ought to.

Heck if I can fly I might even submit one image - to get that badge!

Sorry to be a little bit late this evening, our regular cartoonist has left in a huff and our new AI Artist may need some fine tuning; here’s his/her/its first attempt.
It won’t have affected the Challenge though - Click the Pic™ to check the latest scores

1. A construction site

19:30, 11 Aug 25
Somercotes, Alfreton
DJI Mini 3 Pro

Bonus Claimed for Yellow Telehandler
Joker Claimed for my first ever (and frankly awful) Hyperlapse

I’m guessing I set the waypoints to close together, either way I need to get out and practice hyperlapses a lot more !!!

Agreed - it is awful  But it gets you five points. And it seems as if you are going to try another hyperlapse or two - that is part of the reason for this Challenge - to get out and try things you may not have tried before.

When this ordeal is over we will be running the RTF Challenge - the Reason To Fly - a subject selected by the competitors from a selection of subjects previously suggested by themselves and the resulting photos judged by the GADC membership. Give it a try when it’s announced!

So - Joker 5 points, construction site one point, yellow telehandler (choice of two!) one point, seven tiotal

I’ll keep an eye out for the RTF Hyperlapse challenges in the future, Love t hat the RTFs and this give me a reason to push myself to do more than just fly around randomly, so thank you.
