The Daily Photo Thread

Yesterday was the Summer Solstice, so where better to visit to grab the longest day’s sunset than Stonehenge

All of the lay-bys within a 2 mile radius of Stonehenge were blocked off. So I used my usual spot in Larkhill and walked south down the Avenue just over a mile. There were still quite a few visitors there, plus about half a dozen security guards.

My TOAL was just to the east of Stonehenge, up on a hill in a field, outside the DS NT boundary, with clear view of the site.

DSLR photos are here.

Just above my TOAL site, showing Stonehenge to the left, the Cursus Barrows in the distance below the sun, and the Avenue leading from the north (Larkhill) to Stonehenge.

Note: Starting Monday 26 June, there’s a temporary flight restriction in this area for 2 months, until 25 August. For more info, check Drone Scene.
