My thinking was that each 3 second exposure image would have different light trails and when blended together would show a more complete trail of light. What I didn’t bank on was one of Scotland’s busiest roundabouts, in the Friday evening rush hour, being unusually quiet

It was a mainly overcast day so perfect for portrait photography. I’ve also got an off-camera flash on a stand with the power turned way down, to the left, putting a wee bit of light on the couple.

Since your Air 2 has a fixed aperture of f2.8, all you can adjust manually is the shutter speed and the ISO. I always try to keep my ISO at 100 to maintain image quality. So all you are left with to adjust is the shutter speed, just keep on lowering the shutter speed till the image looks good. I shoot images on my Mini 2 and my M2P at shutter speeds as low as 4secs. Anything slower than that I tend to find the image is not that sharp.
The best time for night flights is the hour after sunset, after that you tend to find that it’s just too black unless you are shooting something with a lot of light that you can fill the frame with.

Re the lighting, if you had asked me to hazard a guess, I would have guessed that it was offset to the right.

I haven’t tried any long exposure with a drone yet, mainly because I didn’t think it would be anywhere near as steady as a tripod, but that roundabout shot is great, makes me want to give it a go.

I’m still amazed Paul, at how steady a gimbal can be, but it does depend on how windy it is too. I’ve shot images at 1sec when it was breezy and they weren’t sharp. The roundabout photo I shot last night is steady at a 3 sec exposure but there was little wind.

@Drumsagard thanks John …the manual settings on my air2 changed at some upgrade stage to pro and I find it difficult to set up …I know a low iso is better so I started off at 100 but shutter speed was at 8 sec so increased iso to 400 still not good but when I checked the shot taken in auto it shows iso 1600 shutter speed 4/5 sec …way off what I was trying but auto picture was better …I am shooting late in the dark I admit

Sounds like the auto mode is biasing towards slightly faster shutter speeds in order to obtain a sharper image. The downside of this is high iso. Until the time comes when drones can match dslr’ s & mirrorless cameras for low noise at high iso then I’d stick with a lower iso. 1600iso on my Nikon Z6’s looks as good as 100iso, but on my Mini 2 and M2P I just wouldn’t use 1600.

I recall the Mini 2’s exposure limit is 4 seconds. I was out this evening (see below), ISO 100, and 4 seconds was my max. It would be nice for a little more 
Maybe it’s different on the M2P.

Think the 2 Pro was a maximum of 8 seconds. Not tried the 2S yet. Love this shot though !

The Air 2 is 8 seconds so would assume the Air 2S will be the same Steve

Yeah, a max of 4secs on Mini 2 then all you can do is up the iso. It’s 8 secs on the M2P.
