These were shot on Saturday with the Mini 3 Pro, within 5 miles of the Big Meet.

Lyveden Estate

Set in the heart of rural Northamptonshire, Lyveden is a remarkable survivor of the Elizabethan age. Begun by Sir Thomas Tresham to symbolise his Catholic faith, Lyveden remains incomplete and virtually unaltered since work stopped on his death in 1605. There are tranquil moats, viewing terraces and an Elizabethan orchard to explore, as well as an enigmatic garden lodge covered in religious symbols. The full extent of Sir Thomas’s symbolic design remains unexplained to this day.

Barnwell Castle

Built during the reign of King Henry III by Berenger Le Moyne this elegant, large rectangular castle near Oundle was encased by a high curtain wall flanked by huge two storey towers, its walls being over 12 feet thick. During the English Civil War it was used by its owner, Sir Edward Montagu, as an arsenal for the Royal cause. After the Civil War, the Montagu family built a substantial manor house, Barnwell Manor, near the castle. That branch of the family which became the Earls of Peterborough are commemorated in the village church in a series of fine tombs.

Had an evening free after work (no more trailer to build!), so headed out in search of some Crop Circles in Wiltshire.

There was a chance that I was going to meet up with @Kirky Rich at the last one, but I got there a couple of hours before him.

All taken with the Mini 3 Pro, ND16 filter, AEB/HDR + manual panos.

Broad Hinton Crop Circle

Furze Knoll Crop Circle

Potterne Crop Circle

There was supposedly one at Roundway Down, just outside Devizes. But I couldn’t find it. So I ended up settling for a shot of Roundway Iron Age Hillfort.

Nice shots! The sun was a lower by the time you got there. I’d left about 7.20 pm.

I see you found the lay-by then. That’s where I parked too. Made for an entertaining TOAL, what with the tree canopy bending over the road :see_no_evil:
