The Daily Photo Thread

It’s actually not too hard when you’re bobbing around over Bath. It always looks great from the air.

As lovely as that pic is, I find myself wishing you’d taken the straight-down pic from high enough to get the full circle of houses in, whilst the trees in the middle are still in their spring colours … with that morning sun.

"Your mission … "

It’s very subjective, I think looking down at the angle it is taken at, it gives a perspective of the height of the houses, almost 3 dimensional whereas looking straight down from a height would maybe just give a 2 dimensional image and lose the shot of the facade of the houses. But maybe it’s just me.

Yes I’m with Brian in this instance. Straight down you reduce stuff to patterns and geometry, which is great. Roofs aren’t always that interesting though, and in this instance the windows and columns have interest…

Does being awake at 04:30 count as silly when I’d spent the night in the car and only got to get my head down just before midnight?

Great pics…well worth getting up a silly o vlock…lol

A couple from White Horse Hill before the wind, weather and Red Kites forced me down. Once it’s calmer I’ll try and get closer

Take battery and drone in cabin luggage and remember that in Italy you can only fly at 70m high and 200m away. Well that’s what the law says anyway

Not the best shot as still learning but heres a brief effort from this afternoon.
the first is with the mavic 2 pro, the second is from the Typhoon H. both taken in auto, altitude 70m distance from the track 160m.
This is Warton stock car club near Carnforth.

I’ve been drifting thru the site trying to get a feel for the people and the site itself, and wandered here. The photos are stupendous, and this one in particular is to me what drones and photography is all about; get a camera where heretofore you just dreamed about captures like this and settled for ‘street’ photograpy. Magnificent!

Cast your eye over Photographic Order of Merit Gallery for some of the most excellent. :+1:

Just magnificent and admittedly, while I know the mechanics of photograpy my efforts are usually pedestrian and mundane. Said differently, boring and might as well have a robot take the shot. The artists are blessed with a good ‘eye’ and ok, yes, sometimes a bit of luck but many just seem to be lucky all of the time LOL Thanks for pointing me there . . .

Beautiful. That should be sent into the local newspaper, bet they’d print it.

It should be in the 2019 Mixed Theme Challenge, for sure!

Thanks Brian, I’ve looked around for ways to get stuff printed in local papers but it seems pretty faffy and they have their own ‘preferred’ photographers!
