A cardio workout to one of my many local lakes! This lake was rescued by a donation from George (stoner) Micheal would you believe. It was gonna be a fly ash dump. Now its one pf the nicest areas in Oxfordshire!

Not a breath in the air…

It’s Radley Pits… Folk call it Radley Lakes but they’re all gravel pits dug in the last few decades. Some reworked, some used as fly ash dumps and some are now nature reserves.

Yeah we’re very lucky in Oxfordshire. There’s loads of places if you know where to look. And an old bunch of RC pilots that have been around for years flying at places like Wittenham Clumps or Whitehorse Hill so the locals are pretty tolerant of model aircraft.

I think Whitehorse hill is NT. not sure how tolerant they are.

Well - the guys who fly there have been there since at least the 1960’s or even earlier. With no problems or issues in all those years. The Wittenham Clumps was an NT place too - but they did have a no power planes rule.

I have been a slope soaring glider pilot there since about 2004ish. Of course gliders are silent and have no blades rotating at 60000rpm. They look pretty too so folk don’t really hate them. And you can only fly there in northerly winds which are not very often.

To be honest the RC glider pliot guys look down on drones like Jetskis in comparison to windsurf or surfing. They consider us a lower life form. lol

Its drone people who have basically F’d it up for all those very skilled pilots. I would imagine that all the legal problems, laws etc with the CAA are fairly new and have all come about since the advent of drones, self flying non manuel craft, but correct me if I am wrong?

Here’s one I took last year in the outskirts of Cardiff. Don’t recall the settings - sorry!
