A bit wild n woolly here in Blackpool today, trams not running between north pier & squires gate, presumably due to blown sand as didn’t coincide with high water. Anyone tempted to fly? Winds peaking at 49 knts.
I’d been to Bangor & hadn’t realised wind strength till I got out of my car at Lidl, squires gate, struggled to walk against wind across car park.
Good start today in Cardiff, bit overcast now and 4cast to remain so. Windy for w/e, next good 4cast Tuesday, then next Friday; next week is to be a bit cooler, hoody weather! Haven’t flown since the 8th! OTOH the autumn colours are starting to show through, so might be worth it even on cloudy days so long as there’s a decent amount of light to play with! Obviously better on sunshine, but beggars & choosers and all that…’
Got some flying in, Jackson’s Bay (Barry) last week & Llandaff wier (Cardiff) on Sunday, bit overcast yesterday and perfect conditions today, so I was thinking about flying Caerphilly Mountain, but UAV Forecast and Airdata are showing ‘Not Good To Fly’ because of over 8 KP. That’s a lot of peanuts; the scale only goes up to 9! I’m not going to chance it; apparently solar weather can upset gps, signal, and in extreme cases fry your electronics. Grounded!
Might get a flight in tomoz, but then it’s too windy until next week. Like, bummer, man…
When I first moved to Blackpool some 25 yrs ago there was a once in a decade storm, with very high tide 10 M, Prom completely closed, I ventured out with the camera, sneaking round road blocks (though can’t find the pics), waves were crashing over the Sandcastle. Not seen owt like it since.
Warned that it start at 3pm and on time and 3:01pm this is what happened and by pure chance I normally parked there but today I went out and moved it into the open
Perhaps it felt like it was a man trapped in a woman’s body, and now identifies with a female pronoun…
Lost it’s American name as an Atlantic hurricane when it abated below hurricane strength as a circular storm cell, became an un-named North Atlantic depression, then gained enough srength to pick up a new name in the UK system. Starting with A as the first named storm of this season and it’s women’s names’ turn to kick off with this year.
And it’s gonna huff and gonna puff until it blows your house down!
