Thoughts on Hobby/Enterprise laws

Wondering what people thoughts are on legislation and how it affects hobby pilots.

Personally I feel hobby groups (No individuals OR companies) should receive special dispensation/discounts for events and group flying. Looking through the CAA pricing structure it looks like no hobby group could ever afford to run an RC event in the UK without serious funding.

I personally feel like RC hobby users and groups should have some special legislation to protect this hobby in the UK…
Looking abroad at the USA and Germany they have thriving drone communities with people developing new and innovative ideas that are being adopted into commerce and business. Yet here we all seem to be stuck in a time warp… with what looks like a future of a dead hobby and airspace sold off to private companies for B2B drone operations…

What are your thoughts on this? How would you handle this? If you where the legislators what would you aim for?

The BIG MEET 2025 - Friday 6th June to Sunday 8th June

The first Big Meet of 2025 will again be at Brigstock near Corby in Northants. Thanks for sharing I’ll take a look but that is an 5 hour drive for me. When I was young I remember every county having multiple of its own RC clubs that hosted events every month throughout summer. Maybe i need to check my rose tinted glasses.

The BM … its also a 5 hr trip for me. others probably longer…
But there be no way i will miss it…

Give it a go if you get chance… there also be a wealth of Knowledge and help freely flowing. I’m sure you’d enjoy it…
