Tiny whoop?

Normally vtx have several power levels and usually come at 25mw as default.

You can increase power usually by pressing a button on the vtx and watch what leds illuminate.

If you have smart audio set up you should be able to do it on goggles.

Some come locked to 25mw until you hold a button for sol long then become unlocked.

If you’ve not set power level chances are it’s on 25mw.

Should tell you in instructions.

Grrr. I hate reading instructions. Maybe Joshua Bardwell will help. Ok so is the antenna you put on the quad the same as the antenna you put on the goggles? How do I search for the quad one specifically, so I can get the right connector?

And that will increase the range too, I guess

I guess that’s the name of the tiny connector then?

Not Necessarily. You will need a clear view for your video. Trees can block the video. Anything that has moisture. Or metal.

I’d check you vtx power first, if it’s on 25mw you have loads more to go.

As for swapping antenna, it’s probably better working out what connector your goggles use and going from there.

Then you would be getting an ipex pigtail (thanks @notveryprettyboy :+1:) with same connector as your goggles. That way everything is interchangeable.

Ok thanks for all this information. Should be enough to keep me ferreting around you tube, Amazon and heliguy for the next week and a half!

The R349 does come locked at 25mw.

You hold button on vtx for 10 seconds to unlock.

Youd then need instructions to decipher the leds to find out what band and power level it’s on.

Another thing to watch out for is what channel it’s on.

Auto scan on the goggles does not always get the right channel.

Set it to a channel and choose the same on goggles.

One more point. Make sure, whatever antenna you get for your vtx, you mount it away from the frame. The frame will suck up the signal.

Ok I’ll do that, then I’ll learn to speak basic vtx so I can understand which powerlevel we’re on. Why does it come set so low? Save power?

Yes I saw somewhere that the signal can bleed into neighboring channels. Ok I’ll do that too. I tell you, you gotta know so much just to get these Damn things airborne!

25mw is the legal limit in EU.

A bit like DJI CE mode.

The manufacturers lock them to 25mw to allow sale in EU but it’s really simple to unlock.

People also reduce power levels when multiple quads are operating like racing.

Yours is capable of 200mw unless you got the TBS version which is more.

Get it cranked up and I bet it’s much better.

You know not to power on with no vtx antenna installed? Even more important at higher power levels.

Yes I picked up that the consequences of that would be bad. Something about “it will explode”

That did the trick! Although my thumbing was a bit wobbly because of the adrenalin!

The onboard DVR is really good!

I really want one now.

Looks like your time in the sim has paid off.

It’s so fun!

Another question though…I got some 4s batteries by mistake. Now I read I might have to adjust the PIDs to compensate for the extra weight of the additional cell. That the case?

That’s a good flight man! You may need to lower your p for a higher cell count battery. Just try it though. If it starts overshooting or wobbling, take the p back a few clicks. Or raise d. But pid tuning is a science in itself. Yours at the moment look well good.

Thanks dude! Sounds all too easy, as long as I watch my ps and ds. Currently, I have no idea what those even stand for but I’m hungry for more info! You know, when I went to edit that I’d totally forgotten how davinci resolve worked…! Brain only has so much space for this crap…

So I slapped a 4s on to see what would happen, and interestingly the quad took off backwards. I was wearing goggles and could only see sky but felt it shoot by within a few feet of my head and land 20 feet behind me before I could shut it down…:scream: I guess the extra weight of the battery threw the balance out and tipped it backwards? So anyhoo im switching back to 3s’s for now…But in a more positive note I did score my first goooooooooooal! :soccer: (Ok, a try…) :football:

Hi all, I’m having VTX trouble on the old R349. Signal degrades from excellent to static within 25 feet, line of sight. I’ve changed antenna, and checked the Vtx is still at 200mw, and confirmed channel settings and checked the circuit board for signs of damage but nothing shows. Any ideas what I should try? Sadly I only have the one pair of goggles so I can’t see if it’s them…

In the pic below, the quad is on the deck, not far away at all.
