Does the VTX have a pit mode, could be stuck in that. Which could be a reason for the very poor range.
Alternatively what antennae are you using, are the both right hand/left hand polarised, or linear on the quad and rhcp/lhcp on the goggles.

Hmm… Don’t know about a pit mode. I’ll check. However, I have checked the polarisation of the antenna and that’s fine. Lhcp on quad and one Lhcp on goggles and… Linear. I’d have thought a vtx would either work… Or be fried. This is weirdly in between…
Nope. No pit mode. Vtx seems to just have lost a lot of power. Maybe I’ve semi fried it? Maybe I should just get a new one?.. Maybe an 800mw one…
Is this since you changed the antenna?
Check you’ve got the correct connectors.
I was caught out a while ago with something which used RP SMA. Make sure there is a centre pin on each connection.
RP SMA is reverse polarity so you can screw a RP SMA M to SMA F and have low continuity.
If not that, double check your VTX is still on the correct channel.
Thanks Callum. Same thing with both old and new antenna, and I’ve checked channels so it isn’t a channel leakage thing either. Driving me crazy! My new antenna arrived this weekend and I was hoping for some crystal clear vision to practice split s’s, and instead I have to bail when I lose vision and hear a disheartening “thump” nearby…
In that case, VTX could well be damaged.
You’ve not powered up without antenna?
No but the antenna may have b become slightly detached in a crash I guess
Oh well, only £10 from banggood! Looks like it may have connectors, so hopefully not even any soldering!
Are you just getting the same one that was installed?
I know it will fit… Why, you think I should go 800mw?
Simply curious
TBS Unify VTX’s are very good, maybe look at the TBS UNIFY PRO32 Nano, tiny and light and can be unlocked to provide 400mw, your obviously only flying on 25mw in the UK right
Of course I know the limit placed on VTX… this is just for my trips to…ah…Panama!
The nano looks good… But I’m just anxious about soldering something called… Nano!
Haha. I bought this. It’s ok, but you need clamps for your wires though.
How did that come off? Where the screws tight?
Probably not as tight as the rugby post they came in to contact with
When it hit, the noise rang out like someone had swung at it with a metal baseball bat. Flew into it at top speed. I thought I was going to be collecting pieces, and was surprised only the motor was off! The stack is shifted sideways and both antenna ripped off, but maybe this is the challenge my soldering was waiting for!!
(either that or I drop £140 and get a new one?)
