Its a little tune, not just a series of pulses. I’ll see if I can wav it
Actually, it is a series of pips. 5 quick, 2 slow, then she quick
Ok so now it’s arming, so some sort of over enthusiastic safety feature. However, when it arms, the props spin relatively slowly but then if I tweak the throttle, they’ll start going faster and faster even if I’ve reduced throttle. Clues?
When the ESC initiates you’ll get a series of beeps.
Best thing to do is plug it back in to USB, open betaflight and see what the arming prevention flags are on the Setup screen.
They are listed on the right hand side under “Info”
Should be something like RX_FAILSAFE MSP
That’s normal without props.
There is no load so throws out the PID loop algorithms and the motors will gradually spin up higher and higher with zero input.
Ah! Thanks!
That’s exactly what it says. No valid receiver signal detected, which is odd as they’re talking to each other
If its only plugged into USB it may not be powering up the receiver depends if the flight controller has a 5v pass through for USB power.
If it doesn’t you’ll need to connect a battery to power everything up, props off just in case, wouldn’t want to lose any fingers before you even get chance to fly
Have you configured the receiver options in betaflight?
Should be set to serial based receiver / SBUS under the configuration panel for the XM+.
think it was because of low batteries…
She flew! She flew…Well, 3 feet, then landed and lost a rotor because I hadn’t tightened the nuts properly, and now I’ve lost a nut! Where do I get those from? (Quickly…! )
Ebay probably your best bet.
Are the motors all RH thread or 2 CW 2CW?
Congrats! … on the flight bit.
They are standard M3 size CW lock nuts, can get em on amazon, or if you want fancy colours banggood but that will take a while to arrive.
All CW which I thought was a bit odd. But they’re of the locking variety, so I guess that stops them from spinning of. Just got video sorted now, with the tiny little 5 way. Very clever! Can’t figure out how to commence recording with power in yet…
But another issue, core temp whilst messing around with settings. Is that a worry ? Gets quite hot quite quickly…I imagine that’s what the bleeping is about too.
Do you have to worry about that and limit your twiddling about time?
Thanks @OzoneVibe…it’s been some journey! Phew…
The VTX can get toasty when your not moving, you can enable pit mode/low power mode via the CLI, alternatively point a fan at it and carry on
Do you tighten them finger tight? Or spanner tight?
As tight as you can get them, if you don’t have at least one finger bleeding from the props cutting in, they aren’t tight enough.
Specially the top right and bottom left motors as they spin counter clockwise so need to be extra tight.
M3 seemed awfully small but forgetting this is not a 5" quad.
