UK Class Marks, Remote ID and drone regulation changes: What you need to know for 1st January 2026

Oh yes, Blackpool prom soon to welcome my Air 3S.

That’s the plan

Follow-up question:

Anybody else spent at least 30 minutes reorganising their main drone bag to prioritise their C1 for when the rules change, or was that just me?

I have been following this topic, but alas I have missed something :frowning:
I have my RID from the CAA and was prepared to enter it into DJI Fly on my RC Pro 2 for my Mavic 4 Pro, I am not finding the place to put it, or am I jumping the gun and will not need it until Jan 1st 2028?
Pretty sure I saw somewhere to enter it months ago, just cannot find that place now

DJI haven’t updated any firmware yet Mark. Not sure they will before 2028 either

The functionality is there, it’s just geo-locked so you can’t get to it at the moment. You can only enter the RID details if the drone is in a RID-required country.

I am pretty sure the previous firmware had it, then this latest 2 weeks ago removed it, because I know I had seen it and even showed our lass, oh well not to mind will wait and see as they say, thanks for the quick response

If you turn it on indoors without it getting a GPS lock, will it think it’s in USA and reveal the functionality?

Not sure where it defaults to if no GPS

I saw it on my mini 5 pro fly more when purchased but it disappeared after firmware update!

I fired the question off two days ago, already had a reply confirming things:

Glancing at your controller is fine, but don’t stand studying it and not looking at your drone. Essentially, same as it’s always been.

If you want to know if you’re vlos compliant.
Cover the screen then go fly or cover it half way through a flight and land

Me waiting for the follow up video clarifying things…

So out of all this I gather I have much more freedom to fly my Air 2S at least for the next 2 years (I also have a Mini Pro 3).
BUT my Air 2S (TOW 595g) does not have a C1 sticker. Is this a problem? Can you get the stickers anywhere?

I believe there’s a firmware change for the 2s to be classified C1, so not as simple as just whacking a sticker on, and not having a class mark does make a difference to you.

With other models, I think there’s been a time limit on how long DJI would allow you to go through the classification process, so I don’t know if this is still valid, but:

EBay

I believe DJI no longer issue C1 stickers for the Air 2S as it’s out of support. Luckily I had mine ‘repaired’ a few months ago, and the new replacement had the C1 sticker.

Can’t see them on EBay?

I got my C1 stickers from DJI about a month ago through the fly app , very easy to request, stickers arrived in about 4 days so followed the instructions and uploaded the photos to the application on the app and received the confirmation of C1 certification the next day .

Sorry, I was only pulling your leg

As above, use the fly app to apply, go to the service section and then Cx label request

Let us know how you get on

Dear all, has anyone already researched RID independant devices (that can be attached to a drone, especially FPV custom built in my case) that would work in the UK?
