Using the DJI RC2 in bright sunlight / shades

How did you get round the problem of seeing the screen in sunlight? The ads for them give me the impression that they remain easy to see but I find that it darkens to the point where I can only see my own reflection. Much like a smart phone screen under the same conditions. I would be interested to read your views on this irritating problem. Although, I am aware that you have to rely on ones eyes and not the electronic screen. But I want to be able to see my details on it at least?

I agree it is sometimes difficult to see the screen in bright sunlight but I’ve never had it ā€œdarkenā€ on me. I simply try to stand in some form of shade. / Ian

I have a screen protector that hinges into a sunshade, which does help to reduce the glare, plus it means I can store the controller without having to remove the sticks every time…

Works for me… Like this one

I tend to try to stand in the shade of a tree if it’s bad, but often just lifting it up a bit changes the angle so there’s less glare. I keep meaning to get an anti-glare screen protector, but never quite get round to it.

I use a Brotech matte screen protector

Was out on the beach yesterday morning, I thought it was dull and would easily be able to see screen, alas not, about the only thing I could make out was the compass. I was trying to use active track to follow misus & daughter dog walking but couldn’t see screen well enough even with a sunshade (fptovsky). Certainly a bugger trying to compose photo’s.

RC2

My thoughts exactly I just want to be able to compose my photos. I also have a tint in my glasses that darkens them. I am thinking it might have had a contribution from them against my controller screen?

I shall look that device up. When I bought my mini 4 combo there was a screen protector in the bundle but that was not for anti glare purposes.

Interesting I shall accept all advice gracefully and gratefully. Thank you.

Thank you. By the way I love your videos. I shall take a look at this device. It gets a bit frustrating trying to line a shot up. Mastering my wee drone is bad enough but I am trying my best to upgrade on my photography too. Ah well! Must develop patience as well it seems lol.

Thanks Paul, nice to hear you like my videos… The improvements will come, just practice and confidence, the more you fly, the easier it will be…

Thanks for the link but I have gone for the anti glare shield that forms a case.
Thanks to all who submitted their ideas and links to the products. I think I mentioned in another post that I did get a screen protector in the flight bundle but it didn’t say specifically anti- glare. Whenever I used my iphone there was something similar happening and I had used the finding shade or resorting to a hand over the screen. So it seemed to follow that it would affect the controller screen too.

yep - the iphone screen dims in sunlight to reduce energy (which creates heat) to stop components blowing up!

Paul,
May seem a silly question, but have you got brightness setting on 100% ,when very bright outside

?

May sound like a daft observation, but could just be the auto-exposure ā€˜doing it’s thing’ ? Had my Mini3Pro out recently, checking out some nearby forestry logging. When the gimbal was was swivelled upwards to include more sky, ground features significantly darkened - and vice versa - just a thought ?
