Electric scooters and cycles first.
Who do you think is going to police this ?
Electric scooters and cycles first.
Who do you think is going to police this ?
What about drugs and speeders
And knives and guns.
Has anyone ever tried to get police to show up, I tied at work today, called 1010 arrived 2015.
(Life was at risk)
When I used to fly RC helicopters, Iâd fly my intended aerobatics in my head first which included where the TX sticks will be in the manoeuvre. I still preflight in my head before flyingâŚ.
And who is policing this and how will they
I see youâve got your tongue in your cheek againâŚ.
They canât and they wont. The first prosecution will be of some twat that didnât bother to read the rules or take any responsibility for his/her flight and causes an accident or another âHeathrowâ. Which is not the vast majority of us.
I think itâs more telling us this is what we should do, if we ignore this and god forbid some thing bad happens thatâs what they will pin it on you
Like this guy, who chased cars down the M60 in a Airport FRZ with his DJI FPV in manual mode
Never mind the Manchester City centre towers

He got a caution
ref reply to KaceyâŚâŚ still trying to understand how it effects the way I fly my mini 2 drone âŚ
Be a teenager (or older)
*Check DroneScene for restrictions before you fly **
etcâŚ
==============================
I am still new to drones ( less than a year)
some what dyslexic amongst other things, and rely on text to speech quite heavily, and Iâm quite shure I am not alone.
I have âreadâ vast swathes of the posts available, and probably one of the best and most appreciated things are to have regularly explained and re-explained⌠which is good and appreciated, especially for newbs like myselfâŚ
Changes always happens, but the change for the sake of change being constantly regurgitated by those that are insisting on these changes that have become what me Granny would have politely called âgoing a bit to farâ.
I see things in the best light I can, in order to save what small portion of sanity I have left.
Please correct me if I have this wrongâŚ
So I see that the new code changes contains some areas of contradiction . I think that for me only drone i fly now (M3p), the only apparent change is VLOS.
Nothing has changed.
So⌠as long as I can see the drone âŚ
If Iâm distracted and loose orientation. I let go of the knobs and it stopsâŚ
There is nothing in the code to say if its parked in a holding position, that a I have to be in direct eye contact 100% of the time, or I wouldnât be able to blink.
I still have VLOS ,and awareness of where it is and what is going on around it also of what monoverse its doing⌠itâs not moving but stationary.
I then have plenty of time to work it out⌠if I have no success then I RTH⌠Job done ⌠or is it?.
I understand that for those with larger drones the changes will probably be a right pain in the arse⌠but that may be their long term plan, to bring hobby OPs down to sub 250g. just a thought anywayâŚ
Thatâs always been the case
Most people speed but never get prosecuted
Nothing had changed
Totally agree we all speed have and still do. I will stop when average speed cover all roads. I used to fly RC planes and it was very easy to get direction and orientation wrong when doing aerobics or has this changed now? Not flown in 30 years. I have a mini 2 with Cree strobes and a camera on the front so I have a good idea where it is this is what I am sticking to.
So am I a hybrid FPV pilot inc spotter looking at screen then looking in the general direction of said drone?
Until something goes wrong and the question arises⌠you were speeding or should we say, you were flying beyond VLOS, difficult to prove before, dead easy now as about 50yds is furthest you can goâŚ
This was always the case. Nothing has changed, theyâve just been a bit more descriptive about it.
Why? If you are saying you canât see and orient your drone unaided beyond 50yds, then you were already flying BVLOS before the recent update in the wording (assuming you were flying further than 50yds from yourself).
As others have pointed out, nothing has made this any more enforceable, even if it were more limiting (which it isnât).
Agree that this is impossible to police and I wouldnât lose any sleep over it.
Most people donât even notice or hear a mini style drone so who is going to report you? The general public certainly already have no idea on drone laws anyway so other than you standing on the ground with a remote control potentially snooping on someone everyoneâs going to mind their own business.
The police arenât interested in burglaries let alone anti social behaviour in our local parks. They arenât going to waste their time trying to find a drone pilot who who is probably flying legally but thereâs a whiff of a chance he might not know what way his drone is pointing.
So yes, what if something happens? I think the way your drone was pointing is probably the least of your worries. Youâve already caused damage or hurt someone. It might be one more thing they add to the list but it isnât going to make your punishment any worse.
The one thing it potentially does and I think in reality is the reason for some of these inclusions into the pretty picture drone code pages is to actually put people off buying them in the first place if they think the rules and refs are just ridiculous. But then thatâs not gonna stop kev from the pub buying. He donât care about no drone code anyway and after a few weeks of fun, almost losing it and injuring someone itâs going to collect dust in junk cupboard or sell it on to another of his thick mates down the pub until it gets lost or broke.
Anyone would think that people on YouTube were sensationalising total non-events just to gain more clicks and views
And the disciples believe
You mean revenue.
Iâm liking auditors more, the more I see of the (subscription based) click bait merchants
I know exactly where Carl is coming from. Those of us who fly FPV fly in a totally different way than your average camera drone operator.
As FPV flyers we generally fly in sparsely populated areas, such as bandoâs, and predominantly below 50ft because thatâs where the thrills are. Yet there is no separation in the rules between FPV and camera drones. This is akin to imposing the same regulations on a dirt bike rider in the woods as you would to someone riding on public roads. The regulations have been put in place by those whom have no knowledge of what theyâre regulating in the first place.
We often hear, and spout ourselves when the situation suits, that our âdronesâ are just like any other aircraft, hence the regulations. This is totally moronic on all levels. Some RPAS are like general aviation and operate in the same airspace as general aviation, but your Argos bought Mavic resembles a Cessna 172 in the same way a soap bubble resembles a Mavic.
Reading through the comments in this thread I see some justifying the regulation, but on what premise, certainly not on any evidence in support of the regulations. Thereâs plenty of hypothetical âWhat ifâsâ and âit couldâ but to date thereâs no âit hasâ.
If the argument is about safety or security where is the evidence to support that either has been compromised without regulation or averted because of regulation? If we were to adopt the same overreach to other aspects of our lives based on safety and security concerns, we wouldnât have bicycles within 50m of uninvolved people or properties in built up areas, you would have to register and take an online test when you purchase cutlery, if found with more than three cans of Stella on your person you could be arrested with possession with intent to supply. All these not so imaginative examples are complicit to multiple deaths on a daily basis but are in no way over regulated like our flying toys are.
Anyway, to that end, Iâve just had an unhappy love affair, so I donât see why anybody else should have a good time. Message ends.
