Warder’s Tower, Knypersley Pool, Stoke-on-Stoke on Trent
Hidden behind the trees on the banks of Knypersley Pool - a reservoir built between 1825 and 1827 to feed the canal system - lies the impressive sandstone Warder’s Tower - or Warden’s Tower as it was called when I was a child growing up in the area!
Home now to several endangered and at-risk species of bat it was originally a gamekeeper’s lodge for the Knypersley Estate, and was lived in until the 20th Century.
Growing up in the area I can recollect running around the Pool area, and coming across this wonderful ‘castle’ tower which sparked our imagination…
Captured at the end of September 2024 with the MINI3 Pro and AVATA1, just with the first blushes of autumn colours in the trees, I hope it does the place justice and is enjoyed…

Fab footage, very atmospheric - what a lovely old place, I can imagine why it brings back great childhood memories. The Tower reminds me of a similar but much worse condition / overgrown structure near Westerham in Kent. I recorded this some time back now using my Mavic Pro, my friend’s son played and recorded the guitar music which seemed to fit well - https://youtu.be/7fdN7bcV_U4

Thanks… thinking the footage may work for a spooky Halloween re-edit - which was why we went tbh - but it was too good not to do a normal mix too
Yeh, I reckon a spooky Halloween re-edit would be really good. I shall keep a lookout!
