Waving from Warks 👋🏼

Hi,

New to the community after learning about the WCC county parks withdrawing permission for hobby drone use in most of the county.

Very happy to be here, looks like a great community

Hi, I’m in Coventry, so not far away.
You mention WCC … is that Warwickshire County Council?
I’d be interested in seeing the info about their change in ‘rules’

Yes, I don’t think it’s necessarily a change but if you look at some of the pages for country parks (Country parks – Country parks and greenways) you’ll see they say

  • Hobbyist – We do not allow hobbyist drone flying in any of our parks, or greenways.

It does mention that commercial operations can request permission though.

So I’m quite curious too

It’s strange when The Parks Trust (in Milton Keynes) have such a reasonable policy about drones in their parks.

https://www.theparkstrust.com/our-work/our-policies/drones-policy/

I’ll have a look and might ask them to explain why they are so restrictive

Hi @encrypto - welcome to GADC :+1: :+1: :+1:

That does sound more reasonable.

Perhaps it like the “dogs must be a lead at all times” rule that exists for self preservation but deliberately not enforce.

If you do find out any more, please let me know :+1:

Welcome I love near Evesham so gutted I can’t fly in Stratford

Hi. I live in Tamworth, just the borders with Warwickshire. I’ve seen their policy about hobbyists flying drones in their park areas but I think as long as you TOAL from a public place they can’t enforce anything.
If you find out anymore please let me know.

I’d still fly there :+1:t2:

In fact it’s actually on my to fly list :+1:t2:

Zero airspace restrictions:

Sub250g Drone and you’re golden :+1:t2:

Title reads all wrong on my phone screen.

Welcome
