If Android, download from their website. The Play store version is old and not being updated.
Once installed from their website, it should auto update itself.
You should use DJI Fly with your Mini2 and as @Crackerjack says you must download it from the DJI website if you are using Android. Also consider apps such as UAV Forecast (to check if the current and next 24 hours weather conditions are suitable for flying), Altitude Angel or Drone Assist.
Out of curiosity I searched the Play Store to see if the DJI Fly App had by chance been updated. The answer is no, and to go one further it seems the APP release from last November has been removed.
As far as I’m aware if you use anything other than the DJI Fly app with the mini 2 it could void your warranty or DJI Refresh plan if you have an issue that you need to claim on. I stand to be corrected / shot down in flames lol but I’m sure I read that somewhere.
I have a similar query. I downloaded from the Play Store and everything seemed fine. I’m aware however that the latest update (and possibly others) have not automatically downloaded. After reading some of the conversations on here I have deleted the DJI Fly app and tried downloading from the official website but I get a Chrome message - “For your security, your phone is not allowed to install unknown apps from this source”. I went back and have scanned the QR code supplied in the Quick Start Guide but get the same message. Do I just ignore and carry on?
Had the drone for a couple of weeks and flown it several times!
