Which used drone?

Having just read a thread about a used Mavic Pro someone purchased, it’s made me think about a used one.

I was looking to buy the Air 2 but have a few concerns for another topic. If you were looking to buy used now, what would you be looking for?

My usage will be sports based, so I’d like something with a decent camera, follow-me type modes and obstacle avoidance.

Given the price of the Air 2, the used drone needs to represent fair value.

Thanks all

What’s your budget?

Knowing that will significantly alter the suggestions and recommendations you’ll get

I wasn’t intending to spend any more than £1000, hence the Air 2.

At the same time I’d like to buy a C1 drone as soon as they’re available, so don’t want to go in too hard on a used one.

If you are careful about who where you get it from you can pick a mavic 2 zoom up for that budget, possibly a 2 pro. With either you will not be disappointed.
That’s what I would go for. If you want to keep some cash aside as you say for a c1 it really is a toss up between the air 2 and a second hand mavic pro 1.

I decided against the Air 2 because it isn’t C1, so don’t really want to spend the same on a used one. I appreciate it’s very much down the individual, but I’m not sure the increase in image quality would be worth blowing the budget on a used M2P at the same price.

How do the original Pro’s image quality and flight characteristics compare to the Air 2?

Good luck waiting for a c1 drone to come out if anyone will ever make one

It’s definitely an unknown, but I think it’s just as likely well see C1’s in time for Christmas as it is that we won’t see them until 2022. The Air 2 is practically there already.

If I were making them I’d definitely want them out for Christmas. What better time to release them?

I reckon the DJI Mavic 3 will be on everyone’s Christmas list this year, let’s hope so !.
We all need something to look forward to after the last few months of shit we have all had.

What sort of price point is expected on that, and do you think it might be certified?

My guess is that it will be a direct rival to the Autel Evo 2, (that is not officially available in the UK) that is priced at around 1800 dollars. If you look at @PingSpike latest posts you will see that it is CE rated.

So effectively a Mavic 3 Pro, or are there non-pro models also?

Apologises Mods for going off topic !, but, DJI will need to pull a really big rabbit out of the hat ,this time !.
Feel free to move to an appropriate topic.

I’m not sure how to do that, I’m still finding my way around the forum controls! Would you mind linking it for me?

Be prepared for a Looong read !, never the less, very interesting points throughout.

Thanks Chris.

I don’t think we’re OT yet as upcoming releases are an important factor in deciding the budget for the used drone, or indeed if I buy one at all!

I’ve just been through the Autel thread but don’t see anything stating that it’s certified. Looking at the specs I’m guessing it should be a C2?

If this is the case then used is still positively on the table, so how does the Mavic Pro 1 compare to the Air 2?

The Pro holds up surprisingly well against the Air 2 for its age.

I fly a Pro and my buddy has a new Air 2. He’s done side by side tests and says the following:

The Pro is a bit more stable due to size & weight

The Air 2 has better avoidance systems and 4K60

The Photos on both are good, the Air 2 48MP setting has a lower dynamic range, but the 12Mp setting is great for all sorts.

I picked up a Pro Fly More for £520 late last year, so there is a good chance to buy one at a decent price and save some money for something else as things develop.

@McSteamy2010 don’t worry Steve it might be on their list, it doesn’t mean it’ll be available.
