Ditto. Everything in one place. No having to flip in/out of AfterEffects and audio editors. Brilliant colour controls. Etc. Etc. …. and free!
Careful there Hoss, its free until you run into something they consider to be not included in the free version, which is why I spent on a license. In my case it was “object removal” - in my case I was trying to remove the date/time stamp from my helmet camera on a bike ride. I looked at the tutorials and started to follow them when I got the lovely message “this feature is not available in the free version”.
However, it is rare for me to spend money on a product like this so I considered the license cost acceptable.
There are some esoteric features … that 99% of people will never use … that need the full version, agreed. Not got to that myself in 2 years.
Absolutely agree.
I’m slowly working through goodness knows how many hours of a training course … MOST of which I’ll never need …. that is totally within the FREE version.
Am I the only one left that still uses iMovie?
It doesn’t matter, use what works for you.
Having been into “normal” photography for a while, I already had Adobe Elements (Photoshop and Premiere) so at the moment I’m using that. Taking a while to get the hang of it, as I’m quite the n00b when it comes to video editing.
If your shooting 8 bit normal profile Davinci Resolve is probably the way to go.
If your using 10bit DlogM your going to need the studio version and make sure your computer is up to editing 10 bit H.265 footage.
Personally I just stick with 8 bit and free version of Resolve.
Learn with iMovie and then move onto Final Cut Pro.
It’s written by the people who made your Mac.
If you’re used to doing anything on OSX you will find it very intuitive and easy to use
Hi all could someone please tell me a good software to edit my footage for 4k …
For example
Trim
add music
Add text ect
Thank you in advance
I think the most popular would be DaVinci Resolve
It’s capable of pretty much everything, but you need a good machine to run it. Next step down in my opinion is Filmora9.
Iv read the posts now all sorted thanks guys
well I am more confused and never editied a video before… well except handbrake to reduce the 4k camera video sizes a tad…
Let’s give Resolve a blast on my crap i5 laptop… I do have a i7 zbook I used in my arcade machine, might need to try that as well
most people are not making money out of drone flying so if it takes 2hr plus to render what does it matter. you can get something to eat or make a brew or render overnight
And the machine is… ??
It’s my birthday tomorrow! Will you get me one? ![]()

I’m going to use iMovie or Splice when I get good enough to take some decent footage. I’ve also heard Darkroom is a good editor, to get full use out of it a small some of £9.99 to pay.
On the fly:flushed: Blimey, I have it all on concentrating on flying at the the mo. When I’ve cracked it sort of I’ll post you some footage
. I took a half decent pic the other day. How can I add this to a reply to you on this forum?
