When they 1st qualified the building had to be Abandoned I too thought the Whole thing had been Abandoned I wrongly assumed they had seen the long range weather forecast

Our wonderful language does provide! Although one is far more commonly used today
They mean two different things.

All those years in the construction Industry and Derelict building was used wrongly by so many
I clearly have enough difficulty understanding plain English… now I’m even more confused!

Abandoned = nobody uses it, lives in it, gives a shit about it. But, it could still be in perfect usable/inhabitable condition. A lick of paint and off you go.
Derelict = it’s falling down, it’s becoming/become a pile of rubble, parts are totally missing, it’s way beyond use without significant renovation. It’s far from being an ideal condition for habitation, but if someone was desperate I’m sure they’d be grateful for any protection it afforded them from the cold, wind and rain.

before I get/made thrown into a derelict
Just take a simple photo or video (30seconds) of an empty building or structure that no one uses anymore.

Hopefully that’s not a technical definition for contest purposes, both the things I’m thinking of submitting are no longer used but people definitely give shits about them
