Hello all…my name is Mike and I live in Plymouth,Devon. Was just wondering if the extra expense is justified in buying a used mini 3 Pro over a new mini 4 Pro. I’ve been iffing and amming for over a week now, and it’s been driving me crazy! Please let me know your views on this subject…lol.
Thanks for looking…and I’ll be in touch soon as to my decision. Cheers for now…Mike.
Hi Mike
I have a Mini 3 Pro and love it but would not upgrade to the 4pro but had I not had a 3 pro I would get the 4 pro for the extra features and the better control system that it uses to communicate from the controller to the drone.
Both are exceptional drones so its really down to your budget I guess - just remember the 3 pro is 3 year old now - but not really showing its age.
Another thing you might want to keep in mind is if you wanted to get a Neo the Mini 4 pro controller will work with the Neo but not the 3 so there are things like that to keep in mind if you do wish to expand your drone collection.

Hey…thanks for your input regarding my dilemma. I think I’m swaying more towards the mini 4 Pro at the minute…so watch this space…lol. Thanks again…I do appreciate your time.
Thanks for your speedy reply ! Like I said, I live in the Plymouth area and am wondering if there are any other members that live in my locale, with a view to meeting up, showing me the ropes, and what this all involves. I am on the brink of buying a new drone and want to get off on the right foot, as it were, by accompanying and learning from an experienced drone pilot. Thanks for reading.
Hi from the North West
Lots, going by the Members Map that @RemoteIDsaveslives linked to
Hi Mike, I have a Mini 4 Pro. The main benefits I see with it are the Obstacle Avoidance sensors and the Waypoints features. The OAS have saved me a couple of times and the WP feature is brilliant, giving the user the opportunity to use other control features in flight that would otherwise be harder to achieve manually. I believe there are 3 party apps that one may use with the 3 (Dronescene?) but I haven’t really researched it. Thats my thruppence worth!
Hi Mike, It would really depend on what your main use of the drone will be. I’m a professional photographer/videographer and my main requirement from a drone is image quality (why I had a Mavic 3 Classic) and I used a Mini 3 Pro for about 18months alongside a Mavic 3 Classic. If I’m being really honest I only bought my Mini 4 Pro at the end of November because the price in Costco’s Black Friday sale was too good to pass up. I then discovered that the Mini 4 Pro image quality is a big improvement over the Mini 3 Pro. I’ve since sold both my Mini 3 Pro and Mavic 3 Classic and I’m really happy with the image quality from the Mini 4 Pro. Other plus points of the 4 over the 3, far better signal quality, extra sensors, landing light amongst others.
Hi Mike,
I have the mini 3 (not pro) and mini 4 pro. Bought the mini 3 by mistake. If your budget stretches to the mini 4 I’d go for that. It has 360 deg obstacle avoidance, has great waypoint facility which includes continue-with-mission if signal is lost and better signal range. For me, mini 4 pro hands down.
Hey Mike, and welcome
I’ve had the Mini 3 Pro and have the Mini 4 Pro. I’d echo what others have said: if your budget stretches, go for the 4. If not, go for the 3 and you won’t be disappointed with it either.
Hi Mike , My 1st Drone was Mini 3 Pro is Great Drone , But the New Mini 4 Pro came out ,with all the Bells & Whistles Hand down from its Big Brothers Like Air 3 S / Mavic
You cant go Wrong just respect it ,Yes it has Obstacle Avoidance ,But use Common Sense , Well worth the Extra Few Bucks , Happy Flying ,
Kind Regards Alex , North London Mini 4 Pro ( DragonFly )
Thanks for your advice, Andy.S ---- I’m really leaning towards the mini 4 Pro now…Cheers !
Thanks for your advice, yorky!..I really appreciate that…I’m leaning towards the mini 4 Pro more each day ! Cheers.
Thanks for your input, JoeC…really appreciate it. Cheers…Mike.
Thanks for replying and your good advice…I reckon it’s gotta be the mini 4 Pro ! Cheers from Plymouth.
Thanks for your advice there, Nikonitis…really appreciate your input, mate !
Hi there, PingSpike…thanks for the link and your reply…but I can’t see any members on the map when I load it…lol.
Maybe hang fire for the forthcoming mini 5 pro?..…also I’d expect the mini 4 to drop in price when the 5 comes out.
Mini 3 no longer gets software updates….but is still good starter drone.
You got a link?
First off…why are you buying a drone?…is it a) you’re a keen photographer already, b) have an itch you want to scratch c) don’t really know but like gadgets or d) as a new hobby. If it’s b c or d, the mini 3 used is less money for almost all the functionality…but if you’re already a keen photographer, the probability of you using it regularly is higher so go with a new one. Image wise, there isn’t a cigarette paper between them unless you’re into 48” x 36” printed enlargements!!! check out MK Creator videos - you’ll learn everything about the mini 4 pro on Mads channel👍
