Thanks Leeheyes. I think the 300 should be more than enough for my needs.
Iāve just got back from a short mountain bike ride (very muddy) where I tested out some of the clever functions of the Mavic 2 Pro. It was great. What wasnāt great was faffing around with getting it in and out of my rucksack. I have the pro controller.
Any tips for a rucksack that is suitable for mountain biking?? The thing is, it needs to carry my lunch, a few tools, plus the drone, a couple of spare batteries and the pro controller.
Iām sure many will do, but thought Iād enquire here firstā¦and start scouring the existing threads for suggestionsā¦
I bought myself a Eurohike Nova 25 litre daysack for hiking and cycling. Absolutely chuffed with it, carries my Mavic 2 pro, lunch, water, spare clothing, maps etc. Waterproof and lightweight. My only issue with it is although itās described as breathable, when hiking I can get a bit sweaty with it on my back after a while. List price is about Ā£30 from Blacks Outdoors, but frequently on offer for much cheaper. IIRC I paid about Ā£12 for mine - a steal at that price.
Eurohike Nova 25 litre daysack
Currently on offer at Ā£12 from Millets if anyone interested.
Thanks for that. I have a couple of normal daysacks similar to that. I guess I was after something with easy access to the drone and controller. 1st World problem I guess
The Lowepro Droneguard 200 does look pretty ideal. Ā£90 though. I might just quit my moaning and use the bags I have already.
I could do with getting myself a new rucksack to carry my 5" quad and associated gear. Iāve been using a regular day to day rucksack to carry my TX16 and box goggles, plus other odds and ends like spare props, tools, etc. Then carrying the quad in my hand which is a bit of a pain.
I was thinking of one of those military style rucksacks with molle webbing on the outside so I can lash the quad to the outside of the pack. Lots on Amazon for Ā£25-30ish. Itād be nice if it could take a laptop at a push too, for weekends away and longer trips.
Anyone used anything like that? Iāve seen FPV/race-quad backpacks but theyāre all up around the Ā£100 mark. I used to use lots of Lowepro bags for my cameras but most of what Iāve seen seems more geared toward putting Mavic type drones inside, which isnāt really what Iām after.
Also, anyone got any tips on moving away from that monster foam box that the TX16 comes in? Iām still carrying it around in that as Iām afraid of breaking switches and gimballs, but itās bulky as hell. I donāt really want to just drop the bare transmitter into a bag. Iāve got a 3D printer, so perhaps should print some gimball and switch protectors. Iād still worry about the screen though.
I use this:

And for my TX16S I use this:
But according to banggood itās no longer in selling state so I canāt post a link unfortunately. But itās far better than the foam case and it also means I can leave my crossfire module installed in the transmitter Iām sure there will be similar items on banggood just search for radio transmitter case. Hope this helps.
The Eurohike has a sturdy plastic loop on each shoulder strap. I have soft pouches for the drone and the controller with a small carabiner on each, and they clip on to those loops, so you donāt even need to take the rucksack off. As @Midway says theyāre on offer in Millets for Ā£12, bit of a bargain at that price
The Lowepro Droneguard 200 is spot on although if you need a bit more space the 250 is a touch better.
This is my bag of choice
Whistler BP 350 AW - LP36896-PWW | Lowepro UK
It holds my Mavic 2 Pro, Smart Controller, Nikon Z6, a couple of lenses, 4 batteries, landing mat, cable release, 3 Legged Thing Tripod, Lee Filters and a few other bits and bobs. It feels heavy when you lift it, but once itās on your back itās very comfy.

@Jase_MK This just got advertised to me
@DeanoG60 Ha! I also came across that yesterday. It looks excellent actually, ideal for the transmitter and goggles, which can then slip inside a rucksack. I ordered a simple black military-style rucksack last night with lots of webbing hooks on the outside to attach a couple of drones to, so it would pair well with this.
I just get a bit deflated at the moment when I look at BGās delivery times. I have a nice FPV wing that I ordered before xmas which isnāt due to arrive till Feb sometime and also my 3" quad which is due around a similar time.
I may well end up ordering that case at some point, perhaps in a couple of weeks (after payday!). Iām hoping once the Chinese New Year is over and the Brexit/Covid shipping chaos of the past month or two have calmed down, things might get a bit more sensible again.
I spent this afternoon carving up a block of foam to make a custom insert for my backpack. It now holds both my Air 2 and Mini 2, with 4 batteries each ( 1 in each drone ) plus one controller which can be swapped between drones in a matter of seconds. The controller is stored with sticks installed, along with a lanyard and the clip for my iPad, so no time wasted assembling it on site
@MartG1960 - moved your post here to a thread that covers lots of similar ideas
Fair doās, very resourceful
Any ideas for a really small backpack that will take just a Mini 2, an apple and a water bottle?
Iāve got lots of full size backpacks for camera gear but nothing really small.
Since getting the Mini 2 I was looking for something that could carry both drones and my DSLR but wasnāt the size of a small house. Ended up getting the Lowepro ProTactic 450 AW II in the New Year sales.
Itās a snug fit and took a few attempts with different configurations, but just about holds:
- Mavic 2 Pro, Smart Controller, 3 spare batteries, filters
- Mini 2, controller, 3 batteries, filters
- Canon DSLR and several lenses, batteries
- Odds and sods (first aid kit, towel, cables, anemometer, props, camera remote, etc)
Itās not light, but itās fairly comfortable to carry once itās on.
What I really like is that there are three access panels so I can easily get to either drone or the camera without having to open the whole thing up.
Hello,
Has anyone got a suggestion for a backpack for a Mavic Pro 2 and Flymore kit? I have a backpack already but its not very good and I was wondering if anyone had come across a decent backpack that will take everything and hopefully prevent damage when hiking long distances to ghet that āperfectā shot!!!
@Myleene your post has been moved to a thread on this exact subject.
Scroll up for suggestions.
Similar story, I just purchased the MM2, so needed a new bag for both MA2 and MM2. I settled on one from Amazon, currently Ā£40.80 with the 5% discount voucher applied.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07ZGJ6BG6
Considering itās size, 28(h) x 28 (w) x 10 (d) cm, it packs all my drone kit, including take off mat, pegs, extra cables, gloves and compact camera.
It can be carried briefcase style, as the backpack straps dettach and store in the back. The are loads of compartments and clips to attach extra kit, e.g. tripod, water bottle, etc.
There is a handy zipped flap on top, allowing quick removal of the drones - in the event I donāt want to open up the whole bag.
The main zip is on the back of the bag providing security when in ābackpack modeā giving you full access to the entire space. Laid on top is my take off mat.
Inside the velcro foam dividers can be arranged to suit. The padding is good, flexible whilst providing protection.
This is the entire contents of the bag, and I still have room to spare.
